Buttermilk Pound Cake

Last night I made my Mom's famous buttermilk pound cake. Seriously, it's famous, everyone that knows my family knows this cake. I remember at one point she misplaced the recipe and we went quite some time without it, my Dad had withdrawal symptoms, it was not a pretty sight. But after you have this, you will understand why..

What you need:
  • 3 1/2 sticks butter
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 1/3 cups flour
  • 3 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Sift flour and baking soda together

What to do:
  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Cream butter in a mixer
  • Blend in sugar and beat well
  • Add eggs one at a time blend well
  • Gradually add flour mixture/baking soda mixture
  • Add buttermilk than vanilla.
  • Bake in greased tube pan (or two loaf pans) for 1 1/4 hour or until done top of cake will split oven you can test is dry inside.

This is super yummy fresh out of the oven, and of course the day(s) after. Enjoy!
