The innocence of childhood

I have a picture in my hallway of myself, Scott and his parents from when we were on an Alaskan cruise back in 2005. It's been there forever. The kids finally noticed it, well, they're finally tall enough to see it. Aaron started screaming, seriously screaming, "Paw Paw!!!" and Jill joined in shortly after. They were so excited to see a photo of their Paw Paw and thought for sure if they yelled his name and stood at the front window he would certainly appear.

I honestly had to sit back in amazement at how innocent they are. I can barely remember that time in my life when there was no such thing as war, or violence, and the bad guys were cartoon characters with weird mustaches. For all they know the worst thing that can happen is that Paw Paw does not pull into the driveway after they call for him, and in five minutes they aren't phased by him not showing up. Don't you wish you could go back to that time? Not a care in the world as long as you have a sippy of water/milk, a good snack and some cool toys to play with. What a life!

Yes, I think about this all of the time. I hate to think that they will lose the innocence. And, now at such a young age with the world the way it is today. Found you on SITS.

I really loved this post. I've been thinking about this a lot lately and for some reason, this made me tear up a little bit. If only things were that simple and easy forever. I love it!
