Who Would Have Thought My First Ride Would Be The Carousel?

My brother and his kids are in town this week with friends and we were able to meet up with them last night. My original plan was to leave work not too long after lunch, grab the kids and make an afternoon of it, that definitely did not happen. The move from Friday is still lingering and I cannot wait for that fun project to be complete.

Anyway...

The kiddos have been excited to see everyone since I mentioned it on Sunday and they practically raced Kevin down the hallway to see their cousins. After some time in the room, we headed to Downtown Disney.

Aaron fit right in with all of the boys, and I'm not sure what it is about getting a group of boys together, but it definitely brings the sillies out. Jilly hung out with her Uncle Kevin while we were waiting for the bus. I'm pretty sure he heard all about the past week of her life at least a dozen times, plus or minus three.

When we arrived at Downtown Disney the kids took a ride on the carousel. As Adam says, "Who would have thought my first ride at Disney would be the carousel?"

It was then decided that we needed ice cream from Ghiradelli. If you know anything about my family, you know that we all love Ghiradelli ice cream and it is always somewhere we need to stop.

The ice cream trip worked out nicely because they were doing a dance showcase on the stage right by where we were sitting. I think all of the kids were thoroughly entertained while we waited for our treats.

When everything arrived I was surprised to see what Aaron ordered, apparently he just pointed to a picture and ordered a huge waffle cone with ice cream and sprinkles. He ate every bit of the ice cream and shared the cone.

After the ice cream we all headed over to the stage to see the show that they do at night. I guess you call it a show? They had a DJ playing music for all of the kids. We hung out for a while watching everything and then Jill disappeared with Meghan's friend Alex. Apparently, Jill thought Alex was a sucker and she could take her into the world of Disney to buy her something. You can't fault her for trying I guess.

I was hoping the kids would fall asleep on the way home from all of this, but not so much. They talked the entire way home and were up at their normal time this morning. They cannot wait to see their cousins and friends again today. I'm fairly certain they will talk the entire time again.

Needless to day, today is a several cups of coffee kind of a day.

Perfect Night for Ice Cream

Last night we met up with Mimi and Paw Paw at Ghiradelli for some ice cream. I'm not normally an ice cream or a sweets person, but I always love Ghiradelli.

Before we even got to the ice cream side of the shop by super human spidey sense saw the peppermint bark in the display. It's like I have radar for this stuff. They only sell it during the holiday season, which let's be honest, is not long. I mean really 2 months? They sell peppermint patties and peppermint well mints all year, why not peppermint bark? Needless to say my darling hubby bought me my first stash of the season. By stash I mean the biggest bag they sell, which will have to be rationed until I decide how many additional bags will be necessary to last until next November.

Ok back to the main reason we went, ice cream! The kiddos never seem to really be into dishes of ice cream, or ice cream cones, so we opted for milkshakes for them. I was a little worried that maybe they would be too thick, but they were perfect. Jill did not stop drinking hers until she hit the halfway point. Aaron took sips here and there but really wanted to get down and explore.

Jill even sampled some of my mint chocolate chip milkshake. She liked it, but thankfully not to the point that she wanted to swap.

It also hit me last night that they really are turning into big kids. Aaron was telling me all the letters on the sign and pointing out everything in our surroundings, and Jill looked like such a big girl sitting in the chair with her milkshake. Where did my little ones go? Time is definitely flying a lot faster than I thought it would, that's why nights like last night are just so important.

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

Time for another installment of Thanksgiving Thursday. This week, I am thankful for...

  • My parents being in town for the past week. It was an awesome time, especially when my Dad called that lady a b-yotch, only in my family.
  • Scott taking the week off to be with us and for taking an extra day today so I could go to my doctor's appointment in peace (it's all about the little things).
  • This Saturday...Melting Pot....d-lish! I think maybe I won't eat until then, because it is going to be so yummy that I have to eat it all.
  • Ghiradelli still having peppermint bark and for it being 50% off. 2 for 1!!!
  • The garlic mashed potatoes at Crystal Palace they were so yummy, and that's about all that was yummy.
  • My Dad being Scott's sponsor for R.C.I.A since I can't be.
  • Everyone who made Sunday's mass such a nice event. Especially the ushers who told the mean snow birds that the word "reserved" means you can't sit there.
  • Lani's family getting over the plague that has swept their home and that it has not (knock on wood) hit our home.
That's all I can think of right now, I'm super tired, it's been a long week. I think tomorrow is going to be a regroup day. Hope you have had a great week and have had tons of things to be thankful for!
