First Day of First Grade

I know, I'm a few days late on this!

I still cannot believe my babies are in first grade! It seems like yesterday we were bringing them home and now they're big kids.

The first day did have some hiccups though. The parking lot was a HUGE mess and I couldn't walk them in on their first day. I had to drop them off in the car line, which they didn't mind and they didn't even give me a kiss :(

As if I wasn't emotional enough about not being able to take them in Alan Jackson's "Remember When" came on the radio as I pulled out of the car line. Yeah, thanks.

They had a wonderful first day and second and third day. Their teachers seem fantastic and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for them.

I hope all of you had a wonderful first day of school, too!

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was the first day of kindergarten for my kiddos. Scott and I were both home to take them in on their very first day.

Getting them in to the school itself was quite the ordeal. There were so many people, which obviously is to be expected. I would also like to point out this is my first ever experience with public school and I'm not adjusting well. For real.

Jillian walked in front of us down the hall to her class. She acted like she didn't even need us there. I was able to get a hug and kiss out of her, but Scott only got a high five and thumbs up. She's apparently a big girl now.

Aaron on the other hand was not a fan of his first day of school and started screaming and crying when it was time to go in. I had immediate flash backs to my first day of first grade.

They were also pretty hilarious today.  While we were waiting to go in Aaron asked why I didn't put sheets in his backpack and I reminded him there are no naps in kindergarten. His response? WHAT?! Needless to say he was pretty pooped by the end of the day.

I still cannot believe I have kids that are in kindergarten. This will be quite the adjustment for Mama.

I hope all of you had a great first day of school as well!

This.Is.Kindergarten.

Tomorrow morning I will officially have two kindergartners. My readiness for this event on a scale of 1-10 is a negative 1. Maybe that's a slight exaggeration and I'm really like a 2.

Tonight I laid out all of their school supplies and separated them into their respected bags. I still cannot believe how many things they needed for school and I know in future years the lists will only get longer.

They are genuinely excited about school and their new teachers. This is also the first year they will be in separate classes, something that I do not think has fully sunk in with them. They will eat lunch together (if they want) and apparently their classes do a lot of projects together, which is always nice.

Speaking of lunch....

I made my very first school lunches tonight. Following the tradition that my Mom started many many years ago, I made them cookie cutter sandwiches. I chose hearts for their first day because I knew writing them "I love you" notes would not be wise, you know since they aren't really reading yet. So heart sandwiches it is!

I cannot believe my babies are going to a big school and taking their own lunches. Ah! When did this happen?!

I'm going to need some serious tissues in the morning...anyone else?

Our First Week of School...in Photos

I took a photo every morning before we left for school and thought I would share our first week of school.

Monday we met up with Daddy at school before going in. We had an amazing drop off as well!

Tuesday we were just as excited to go to school!

Wednesday we woke up early to make sure we were ready in time.

Thursday we were up even earlier to be sure we were ready.

Friday we were full of excitement!

I am so thankful for this great first week of school! I'm equally thankful that I got to experience it before heading back to work. Memories like these are worth their weight in gold.

First Day of School!

Today was the kiddos very first day of preschool. I have not been looking forward to this day at all. It's not that I don't think they will like school, it's just that it means they are really growing up. I seriously feel like they were just born and now, boom!, they're off to school.

Aren't they flippin' adorable!? They were so excited this morning and were even more excited when they saw that Daddy met us at school for drop off.

They went right into their classroom and didn't even look back at us. I'm not going to lie, while I didn't want them to freak out and cry, I was hoping for a little "gonna miss you Mommy".

When I picked them up, they said they had fun and really seemed to enjoy themselves. I'm glad the first day of school got off to a great start and I know they are excited to continue on this journey, even if I'm kicking and screaming the whole way.
