A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

The kiddos colored a ton of pictures today. Apparently, today was 'New Picture Day' for the fridge. I had no idea.  My favorite picture? This one:

Aaron drew this picture of the two of them. Please notice Jillian's hair. I believe he is thinking of her in the morning when her hair is all over the place.

This picture just absolutely melted my heart today and perfectly sums up their relationship. I truly hope they are always like this.

We Do NOT Harlem Shake In This House!

Scott caught the tummy bug that has made the rounds in our house so while he was praying to the porcelain gods, I left work early to grab the kiddos and take them to dinner.

When the kiddos and I were walking to the car, Aaron stopped and yelled "DO THE HARLEM SHAKE!" and proceeded to dance like an insane person next to our car. I did what any normal mother would do, picked up my jaw off the ground and said, "We do NOT Harlem Shake in this house!"

The kiddos have learned how to do the cha-cha slide and cupid shuffle while at school and whatever, I mean you know they have to do something when it's raining or 500 degrees. However, I draw the line at the Harlem Shake. Why? Why am I so anti-Harlem Shake?

This...this is why:

What you do not see in this 32 second clip is Leann and I walking outside of the union and seeing Thor and a man with a box on his head, turning to each other and saying, "WTF?" You also do not see us walking by all of these people inside, seconds before the music starts, while trying to map out sign locations for the conference that was happening a few weeks later. My stress level was already at an insanely high level, so seeing people with sharks on their head made me think I truly lost my mind. Damn you, Harlem Shake! Damn you!

So my evening did not end with the Harlem Shake, oh no, it was just the beginning. I took the kiddos to dinner and we were having a super fantastic time until the biker sat at the table that was thisclose to us. My son, with his awesome 5-year-old eyes, looks at the man and rather loudly says, "That man is a pirate!" My eyes were the size of saucers and I'm pretty sure I choked on a piece of the chicken flauta I was noshing on. Jillian, naturally, agreed at an equally loud volume. My face was as red as the salsa and the pirate biker and I swapped smiles. Awesome.

Prior to leaving dinner, the kiddos, again rather loudly, announced they had to potty, so we pile into the bathroom and Aaron was first. Jill then yells "I can't go potty like THAT because I don't have that THING!" (This was complete with a demonstration) Thank God for stalls.

There is never a dull moment with these two and no I would not change it for the world. Well, I would change the whole Harlem Shake thing.

From the mouths of babes

The kiddos have been extra humorous lately, so I just have to share some of the things they've been doing.

We are still working with Aaron on being potty trained. He's good during the day, but he isn't totally night time trained yet, or poop trained for that matter. Anyway, the other day he said he had to poop and went running for the bathroom, I told him to get started and I would be right there. Well, Miss Jill apparently also had to potty and proceeded to kick her brother off the toilet. So I come around the corner and there is Aaron, no pants, and then splat. There's the poop. I hear a flush and Jill comes around the corner, "Oh no, Aaron pooped on the floor." I asked her if she kicked him off the potty, "Yeah, I had to go." Good gravy...he did manage to finally poop in the potty later though. Finally!

Mimi's birthday is coming up and Jill and I were talking about her birthday cake while in the baking aisle of our grocery store. Here's how that went:

Jill: I think Mimi wants strawberry cake for her birthday.
Me: Why do you think that?
Jill: Um it's her favorite.
Me: Really? I thought her favorite was yellow.
Jill: No, strawberry.
Me: Funny, because strawberry is YOUR favorite.
Jill: It is my favorite.
Me: Is that why you want to make it? J
ill: Uh huh.
Me: Even though it's not Mimi's favorite?
Jill: Hmmmm?

Since Aaron finally pooped in the potty the other day, we went to Target to get him a special prize. When Jill did this she got a Belle doll, so I made a point to take him for this as well. Since I can't buy for one and not the other though I let Jill pick out something small as well. Aaron picked out an Iron Man action figure (I called it a doll once and Scott has not stopped reminding me it is in fact an action figure) and Jill picked out a Barbie purse.  Inside this purse is a Barbie drivers license.

When we went to see Mimi and Paw Paw later that day she handed me her Barbie license and asked me to show it at the security gate. Had the line not been 5 cars deep I think I would have.

Sadly, our neighbor had to put their dog down. They did this over a month ago, but since everyone has been either vacationing or just busy in general, we haven't crossed paths that much. When we were catching up Aaron asked about the dog and our neighbor said she was in heaven. Aaron gave me the "WTF?" look and I said we would talk about it later. I left this discussion to Scott, and there is my main mistake. Here's how this went:

Scott: Hey bud, Ginger was really sick so she had to go on the rainbow bridge up to heaven to be with all of the other doggies.
Aaron: Rainbow bridge?
Me: A what now?
Scott: Yes, a rainbow bridge that takes doggies to heaven.
Aaron: What colors are on the bridge? Red? Blue? Yellow? Green?
Me: And you lost him....

Needless to say we are still having the 'doggies go to heaven' chat.

What funny things are your kiddos saying? I'd love to hear them!

What the kids are saying....

Minus the epic meltdowns, I'm really enjoying this age because the kiddos are coming up with some hilarious things to say. Here's some examples:

Aaron (to any coffee cup he sees): Mama, that your poffee? (Clearly I drink a lot of coffee)

Aaron: I said SHUT UP!
Jill: *gasp* Aaron!
Aaron: Um...BE QUIET!
Jill: That's better...

Aaron: We go to the pumpkin patch and see the GIANT dinosaur?
Me: There's a dinosaur at the pumpkin patch?
Aaron: Uh huh, a GIANT dinosaur.

Jill (every morning for like 2 weeks): I get dressed, put on my owl pack pack and go on the blue plane to Dzia Dzio's house?
Me: Not today.
Jill: Um, my owl pack pack and go to Dzia Dzio's house.
Me: Not today.
Jill: Not today?
Me: Right, not today.
Jill: I talk to Dzia Dzio?
Me: Ok...
Dzia Dzio: Hello Jill!
Jill: "Dzia Dzio, my owl pack pack and the blue plane and your house.
Dzia Dzio: But I'm coming by you.
Jill: No your house.
Dzia Dzio: But I'm coming by you.
Jill: (dramatic sigh) 'K bye...

I was in the guest bedroom getting something and Aaron caught me...
Aaron: Why you in Busia's bed?
Me: Um, I had to get something.
Aaron: Where's Busia? Is she in there? I want to see her.
Me: No, she's not here, I just had to get something out of the room.
Aaron: Let me see. I want to see Busia.
Me: Aaron, she's not here, trust me you would know if she's hear.
Aaron (looking in room): Mama, where's Dzia Dzio's pillows?
Me: They're on the couch, remember?
Aaron: Those Dzia Dzio's pillows.
Me: I know, but they're on the couch.
Aaron: Ok, but those Dzia Dzio's pillows, they go on Busia's bed.

I've officially be reprimanded by a 3 year old.

I wish I could think of more of the things they are saying. I'm trying to write them on Facebook when they happen so I can remember. Hope you got a laugh!
