Review: 750 Best Appetizers

With the holiday season upon us, many of us will be hosting parties, or attending parties that we need to bring a dish to. One of my favorite things about parties is there are usually a ton of appetizers, and I love appetizers. I had a chance to check out a new cookbook that is full of all of my favorite things, 750 Best Appetizers by Judith Finlayson & Jordan Wagman. Judith Finlayson is a bestselling author whose life-long love of cooking has translated into sales of over 1.5 million copies of her books, and Chef Jordan Wagman has received national recognition from the James Beard Foundation and was nominated as a “Rising Star in North America.”

This book is structured to cover a broad range of options. There are 16 chapters built around specific types of dishes, such as Dips and Spreads, or specific ingredients, such as Fish and Seafood or Cheese. They've also categorized the book by presentation, since it’s an integral component to appetizers, so you’ll find chapters like Wraps and Rolls. They've also considered the need to satisfy a variety of dietary preferences, from strictest vegans to wide-ranging omnivores. And, since they know you’re probably doings lots of things at once, many recipes can be prepared ahead of time or made in your slow cooker while you’re busy with something else.

Here are some of the amazing recipes in the book:

· Vegetarian Vietnamese Fresh Rolls
· Goat Cheese and Sun-Dried Tomato Crostini
· Mini Falafel Sandwiches
· Mango Spiked Salmon Ceviche
· Pancetta-Wrapped Scallops
· Potato Tortilla with Peppers
· Walnut –Dusted Cheese Balls
· Strawberry-Topped Brie
· Smoked Chicken-Stuffed Yellow Peppers
· Sliced Steak with Horseradish and Roquefort Cheese
· Oh-So-Retro Meatballs

They all sound amazing, right? You can flip through a list of the appetizers and preview two of the recipes on the website for 750 Best Appetizers. You can also order your own copy there. Which appetizer sounds amazing to you?

Disclosure: I was provided a copy of 750 Best Appetizers for review. The opinions expressed are my own and were in no way influenced.
