Our Mini Vacation

We were in desperate need of a mini vacation and this weekend definitely gave us that opportunity. Scott, the kiddos and I went down to visit our friends in Sarasota, but before that, I met up with Michelle for a free 5k.

Yeah, you read that right, FREE 5k.  Every weekend this organization puts on a free 5k, all you have to do is volunteer 3 times a year. Isn't that amazing? We finished with a time of 45:35, which wasn't too shabby, especially considering neither of us were exactly feeling that run.

After I came home we finished packing and hit the road for Sarasota. The first thing we did was hang out at the marina. The kids were able to play in the park and then we walked along the water to check out the boats.

Seriously, how adorable is that photo? I love when they hold hands!

At the end of the path there was a small patch of beach, so we were able to check out the shells and dip our toes in the water.

The kids wanted to full on dive into the water and it was a struggle to keep them dry.

On Sunday we went to Lido Key (where Bob and Vanessa were married last year) and spent the day splashing, building castles and digging up shells. I spent some time in the tent because, well, I'm super white and burn easily. Thankfully, I did not burn. I cannot say the same for Bob and Scott. After the beach we ordered some pizza and curled up on the couch to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because they like pizza. Duh.

Nobody had trouble falling to sleep that night and there was definitely a lot of snoring going on.

On Monday we played a round of mini golf and the little miss actually won a free round because she scored a hole in one (all on her own).

She was so proud of herself, but we need to work on not calling our brother a loser because he did not win.

We all grabbed some lunch at this really yummy burger placed called Square 1 Burgers. Um, holy amazing. There are so many burgers, with any meat you could imagine, and it's all delicious! While we were there I was able to snag this photo of Jilly and her Uncle Bob.

If you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you know Uncle Bob holds a very special place in Jilly's heart. Bob is one of Scott's fraternity brothers from FSU and has been in the kiddos lives since day 1. Yup, he came to the hospital hours after they were born and stayed for the first two days just holding them, feeding them and being an awesome uncle. Jilly and Bob have always been close, I mean the girl pooped on him every time he held her and they are still close. That's love people.

Thank you again, Bob and Vanessa for opening your home to us and spending the weekend with us!

I hope all of you had a great weekend as well!
