Lockdown, Day 2

A quick update on our "lockdown", Aaron has been running a fever since yesterday afternoon. It started out at 99.9 (which apparently doesn't count as a fever) and has been holding steady at 101.8 ever since. I think it may have broken at some point over night because his hair is just, well gross, you know how your hair gets when you get sweaty. We called the after hours line for our pediatrician last night and they said as long as he's not showing any symptoms we don't need to bring him in, and he has to run the fever for 24 hours. I'm going to call again in a few minutes when they open and see if we can get in anyway. I have a feeling it is H1N1 just in the very early stages. I really just want this to be over and not get any worse, or have any more of us effected.

Personality wise he is still pretty much the same, he just wants to be cuddled a lot more (he's actually "helping" me type this right now). Jill hasn't shown any symptoms yet and isn't even slightly warm, so that's a great sign, let's just hope it stays that way. Scott and I are eating vitamin C and using antibacterial gels like it's our job. I'm also starting to get everything wiped down with some Lysol. That's all to report so far, we'll keep you posted!

Lockdown

Minus the chair and table climbing this weekend, we had a really chill and enjoyable time! Saturday Scott and I went out on a date (woo woo!). It was really nice to get away without the kiddos. We went to mass (where nobody is allowed to shake hands due to the swine flu) and then to dinner at Cafe D'Antonio's. Dinner was ok, nothing to write home about, you know what I mean? I was disappointed in the menu, it was very stereotypical Italian (ie lots a pasta) and not much of anything else. At least the company was good ;) In the end that's all that really matters!

Yesterday the kids and I just bummed in our pj's for most of the morning. I love days like those sometimes. Then we went by Mimi and PawPaw's for dinner. I even made an apple pie! It was super yummy in case you were wondering.

So far today we haven't done much. I've put us on lockdown because we've been exposed to swine flu. My friends son has it, and even though we haven't had any recent interaction with him, we've had interaction with her and her other son (they both may be carrying it and just not showing symptoms). I'm really hoping we don't get it because two sick toddlers, a sick husband and a sick me is not a good combo. Hope you had a great weekend!

18 month check up!

The kiddos had their 18 month check up today! I cannot believe how big they are! Aaron weighs 29lbs 13oz (90th percentile) and is 33 3/4 inches long (90th percentile). Jillian is 24lbs 7oz (50th percentile) and is 33 inches long (75th-90th percentile). They are doing really well developmentally, both say two word combinations and are building a pretty big vocabulary!

And I don't know if this is going to cause debate or not, but I wanted to bring it up, the H1N1 vaccine. I asked our pediatrician if she thought the kiddos needed it and she said that since they are not in a daycare situation it was really a personal choice. Kids in her office that have caught it are responding really well to Tamiflu and there haven't been any complications. I was hesitant about giving them the shot anyway, so I'm glad that in the end it was my choice, and the choice was to not get them vaccinated. I'm not a fan of flu shots in general, from what I've noticed people tend to get the flu anyway and it winds up being worse. I'm sure this shot is different, but in the end I think I made the right decision and am glad it was my decision.

That's about it over here, hope you're having a great day!
