The other day the kids and I hung out in the backyard. Thankfully those pesky wasps stayed by their hive and didn't bother us. Now, the red ant hills, sigh that's a different story. The kids had a blast as always and Jill naturally spied on the neighbors through the fence.
Yesterday we took the kids to a new park in the area, it was so nice! We didn't get to stay long though because Scott someone who will not be mentioned and Jill went down the slides into a puddle of water. They were both soaked and since it was super windy, and Jill's teeth were chattering, we decided to pack it up for the day.
Aaron was less than impressed with the playground equipment and would rather walk in the sand. Jill on the other hand was my little daredevil and did not even hesitant going down the big slide. That girl has no fear and I'm not sure what I think about that yet, but I see many an ER visit in my future.

I'm going to start with an apology, it has been a very long day and I'm half a glass in to some Pinot Grigio, so if there are a lot of typos, sorry.
Yesterday I was able to take the kids outside to play for a little while, until those pesky wasps made their triumphant return. Seriously, I have never seen wasps like these before. They are huge. I could tell what color their eyes are from half way across the yard, no joke. My kids love the outdoors, unlike me. Aaron is constantly asking for his shuws so he can go ouwtside-a.
Jill loves being on the slide and always thinks it's her turn to go down it. Even if Aaron is on the slide she will push him down so it can be her turn. Of course, it's ok, because she says "Whee!" as she pushes Aaron.
We're also getting a lot of birds in our backyard. I think we may have a few nests developing as well. Aaron is practically losing his mind with the abundance of birds in our yard. Again, not like me, I can't stand them (ask Lani, seriously). Yesterday we saw this cardinal at our feeder:
When Aaron saw him he started screaming (no joke on the screaming) "BIRD! THERE IT IS!!! BIRD! THERE IT IS!!!" I had to make a mad dash for my camera to snap the shot before he slammed his hands against the window in excitement and scared it away. I hope he comes back so I can get a better shot, and maybe he'll bring his friend Mr. Blue Jay.
Ok so that's where all the good fun stuff ends. Let's talk about today, shall we? My day started with some "fun" that I left out from yesterday. Scott started coming down with a stomach bug yesterday. And I mean the stomach bug that has been going around. Somehow he dragged himself into work and I began santizing the house from floorboard to ceiling. Anything he touched, breathed on or even looked at got a touch of Lysol. So I was pretty pooped (hmm, wrong word choice?) after my floor to ceiling cleaning and hit the hay. Naturally, I didn't sleep well because I was concerned if he was going to continue getting sick or spike a fever. Then all hell broke loose...
At 2:30 am I heard Aaron crying so I went to see what was up. As I left the room, Scott made the mad dash for the bathroom. Then, as I'm helping Aaron I hear "Amanda???" Seriously? Well, needless to say Scott had to make due on his own while I took care of Aaron. Finally all three of us piled into bed, and Aaron hung out for 2 hours (2 HOURS!). Bite me Daylight Savings and your stupid spring forward. Anyway, Aaron finally went down around 4:30 and was up again at 7 on the dot ready to go for the day. Um, not me kiddo.
So Aaron and I hung out again until Miss Jill decided to wake up. Here's where we start to ice the proverbial cake. I go in to get her and there is this gunk all over her and her crib. What the frick?! Her diaper literally exploded. All the gel from the inside of the diaper was covering her, her sheets, her blankets, her stuffed animal and her crib. G-D. I got her stripped down, rinsed her off in the tub, while fighting off Aaron who thought it was bath time, and then changed into some new jammies. Seriously, this is the worst of the day, right?
Let's add some more icing....
Things went pretty well until naptime. Both kids went down, but Jill kept chatting away. I went in to try and get her to settle down and then I saw it... poop.... everywhere. My darling angel took off her diaper and then flung the poop that was in the diaper all around the room and then proceeded to pee in her bed. And where was the diaper? Sitting under her clean butt. Needless to say she did not nap, and her bedding/blankets/animal got another round in the washer.
Things went better in the afternoon after Aaron got up, and Mimi and Paw Paw brought me a coffee to keep me with it (thanks again!). Jill even helped me wipe down everything Scott touched today. Then we iced the cake some more...
I was Lysoling my couch and stepped on something. What the frick? POOP! I stepped in POOP! My dog took a giant crap in the living room and I walked right into it!
So now that explains the now finished glass of Pinot Grigio. I hope you had a much better day!
Yesterday the weather was gorgeous! The kids and I were able to enjoy being outside without having to be bundled up, or fear being blown away. The kiddos are starting to enjoy their climber a lot more and basically played on it the whole time we were outside.
At one point we had to do a countdown before each one of them went down the slide, and it is so funny to hear them counting! It sounds something like, oooonnnnneeee, twoooooooooo, tweeeeee! GO! Sometimes they slide a little too fast and hit the ground but they were quick to jump up and say "ta-da!". I'm so glad they are finally enjoying this!
We also broke out the sidewalk chalk today! Jill is a huge coloring fan, Aaron can take it or leave it really. Aaron spent most of the time picking up all the pieces and putting them back in the box (funny he doesn't do that with the 101 piece food set that he dumps out all the time). Jill had a blast coloring on the ground and made quite the masterpiece outside.
I hope the weather stays nice all weekend so we can get out and enjoy it! Oh! I got word about the bake sale from last weekend, we made $455 for the church building fund. How awesome is that?! Hope you're having a great day so far!
Since the weather is still freakishly coldarctic like sub zero brisk, Scott and I thought it would be a great day to head up to the Orlando Science Center for a day of indoor fun for everyone. We got the kiddos packed up and headed out. I cannot tell you how excited we were, seriously. They had so much fun there last time and hopefully it wouldn't be as crowded so they could have even more fun! So we get to the science center and hmmm strange, nobody is in the parking booth, and there is an abundance of parking. What the frick?! Oh that's right, they are closed on Wednesdays. What the frick?! Maybe that should be on their website or something? So we turned around and headed back home.
On the way home we decided to stop for lunch at Mimi's Cafe. We got the kiddos out of the car, headed to the door and....What the frick?! The door was locked. I am so not even kidding. I looked around the parking lot and there were a ton of cars, so what am I missing here? Scott called and asked if they were open and the hostess said "Of course!" "Well your door is locked." "Ohhhhhh". So the hostess opens the door and, I am so not kidding "I saw you standing here for a while and was wondering what you were doing!". Really? Me pulling on the door and literally saying "What the frick?!" didn't tip you off? Ok... But before we could walk in Miss Jill decided to lay on the ground and kiss it, not in the nice way, more like in a way that results in this:
Nice, huh? I seriously should have named her Grace.
After we got home and the kids had naps we went outside and blew off some steam. It is still chilly, but by the afternoon it was at least 50ish, so I got them bundled and we headed out. Aaron actually slid down the slide and thought it was great. Jill stuck with kicking the ball and I think we may have a future Mia Hamm on our hands.
We're still trying to get back into the groove of things now that all our visitors are gone. Easier said than done, really.
The weather has been, well, random lately. It's been cold, hot and cold (ahhh Chicago style) over the past few days and it has been raining which is no fun. I was able to get the kids outside the other day to try out their awesome new toy from Auntie Cathy and Lorren!
Isn't it awesome? Just like the reviews said it was really easy to put together, not that I put it together, I had a team of "professionals" do that for me on Christmas Eve:
Lorren even tried it out to test the uhhh "safety" (read slide). So after all the hard work I was excited to get the kids outside to play on it. I had visions of them standing at the top laughing hysterically, pushing each other down the slide, it was going to be awesome! I opened the back door, let the animals children loose and they ran right for.....everywhere else in the backyard. Huh????
I even brought Jill over at one point and showed her how to climb up and how you could slide down and she looked at me like "Yeah uh huh, I'm going to kick the ball now". Sigh.... So we shall try and try again. I still think they are going to love it, more than the kick ball. Promise Auntie Cathy and Lorren! If not, I can always send it up so Lorren can you know test the "safety".
