Our weekend so far...

The other night we met up with my brother and sister in law at the Magic Kingdom. I am a total sucker for this park, it's where Scott and I met.

When we got there we headed over to Frontierland to see our friend Lauren perform in the hoedown. Jilly even got to be a part of it! (Please pardon the video, it was hard to keep up with such a small little girl)

Thanks again Lauren!

We just kind of hung out after that. We went on the Carousel, Snow White, People Mover and Laugh Floor. The kids love the Carousel, always have.

And they got to sit like big kids on the People Mover. What was funny with this was that at one point Jill was leaning over yelling "Dzia Dzio! Where are you?! Dzia Dzio!!!" which further convinced me that she believes my parents live in Disney World.

We even got to catch the parade. Since we would be waiting for at least 45 minutes we got the kiddos their favorite treat, Mickey Mouse shaped Rice Krispie Treats:

The Main Street Electrical Parade is still going on, which is wonderful because it is hands down our favorite. I remember seeing it as a child and my kiddos seem to like it more than Spectromagic. All in all it was a great night!

Last night we went over to our friends the B6 to celebrate the end of summer. Thankfully the weather cooled off to fit the theme of the party, how nice of you Mother Nature! As always it was a great night with great food and great friends!

Hope you're having just as good of a weekend!

The magical world of Disney

Let's start with the absolutely amazing news first, my dishwasher is running as I type this post. Cue the choirs of angels! It's been a very long 3.5 weeks, but we are up and running again!
Now that we have that out of the way....

Last night we took the kids and Mimi and Paw Paw to Magic Kingdom to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. It's only here for the summer so we wanted to go before it got unbearably hot. Our first stop though was to get Aaron's hair cut. He was looking extra shaggy and we figured since we were there and they did such a great job with his first haircut we would just go again. He was a little freaked out at first, but who can blame him after that not so Fantastic Sam's experience?

He looks like such a little man now, but he'll always be my little boy.

Since we had a lot of time to kill we had some dinner and went to see Mickey's PhilharMagic. Turns out this was Mimi's first time seeing something in 3D. Then we took the kids on Prince Charming's Carousel. The kiddos are old pros at this and pretty much act like they are Prince Charming and Cinderella the entire time they are on the horses.

Since the parade has only been at the park since Friday we knew we would probably need to get seats 2 hours before it started. I am so glad we did this, otherwise who knows where we would have sat. To kill some time we took the kids on the train, which they love, and then settled in to our spots.

I have to say the kids did amazingly well for sitting in one spot for an hour and a half. I'm sure that giant rice krispy shaped like Mickey helped.

When the announcement came on that the parade was starting the kids got super excited and then pretty much lost their minds for the next 20 minutes.

I am so glad they got to see this parade. Scott and I remember seeing it when we were really little, so it's great to have that same memory with our kids. That my friends is the magic of Disney.

A walk back in time...

Even though Scott works for Disney, we are still annual pass holders, so we got the inside scoop on the re-launch if you will of the Main Street Electrical Light Parade (which shall now be referred to in this post as ELP) and the brand new fireworks for the summer. We debated taking the kids to the first night and decided against it because we knew it would be crowded, and we were right. People got there at 3 pm to start saving seats. We got lucky with our seats and we didn't get there until 7:30, a good hour and a half before the parade.
I haven't seen this parade in YEARS, and when I say say years I mean probably since I was a tot, but it was all that I remembered and more. This parade holds a special spot in my heart for a few reasons, 1) I saw it when I was little so it always reminds me of coming with my parents as a kid and 2) we used the music at our wedding after the recessional.

It was so awesome to watch again and I cannot wait until we take the kids to see it, I think they're going to love it!

The new fireworks also debuted last night. They give you special glasses to watch them with, I opted out of the glasses because they made me feel sick with the first firework (most things make me sick since I had the kids, happen to anyone else?). The new fireworks were pretty awesome, they say they're 360 but I would say they're 180, which is still pretty freakin' awesome.

Here's a quick video Scott took to show the difference with and without the glasses:

Hope you are having a great weekend!
