Thanksgiving Thursday

For those of you that don't know what Thanksgiving Thursday is, it is the one time during the week where you stop and basically count your blessings. Even if you've had one of those weeks, I promise you can find at least one thing to be thankful for, no matter how big or small.

This week I am thankful for...

  • Scott who holds down the fort while I train, He's also pretty amazing at foam rolling my calves.
  • My little dude who is kicking butt at school and in sports.
  • My little miss who is going to be my new running buddy. I had such a great day with her on Saturday getting her fitted for her first pair of running shoes.
  • Family all around us.
  • Friends that willingly wake up before dawn to run 11 miles with you.
  • Friends who make you feel so at home you don't realize the time until the sun goes down.
  • Three day weekends.
  • Starbucks pumpkin spice latte k-cups (yes they make those!).

What are you thankful for this week?

  • Salted Caramel Mocha Frappucino's at Starbucks. Seriously, have one or two.

Thanksgiving Thursday

For those of you that don't know what Thanksgiving Thursday is, it is the one time during the week where you stop and basically count your blessings. Even if you've had one of those weeks, I promise you can find at least one thing to be thankful for, no matter how big or small.

This week I am thankful for:
  • Scott who took another week of split days off so we could all go to an event on Saturday. I'm pretty sure he just really wants to see this movie and we were the added bonus ;)
  • Aaron who has asked to go to Chicago every single day this week. The requirements to go to Chicago, if you ask him, are his Buzz shoes, his pack pack (backpack) and the blue airplane. If it were only that easy!
  • Jill and the outfit combination's she comes up with when she's playing dress up. Oh, and she says Peter Pan with a British accent, it's amazing.
  • Family you can call no matter what and who will take your kids for an hour so you and your husband can go eat ice cream in peace.
  • A sister who sends the kiddos treats (which have now been dubbed Tay Tay Treats) when she sends you the awesome raffle prize you won.
  • A chance to see Cars 2 on Saturday. I'm pretty sure Aaron is going to lose his mind...Scott too for that matter.
  • Starbucks coffee being on sale last week and having a coupon to stack with the sale. Sooooo good!
  • Jenn only smashing the hood of her car and that it wasn't anything more serious.
  • That our dog was not in the backyard the same time the cottonmouth was.
  • That we weren't in the backyard the same time the cottonmouth was.

  • Scott getting me a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks as a reward for sitting in a room while a doctor drained my cyst (and also drew me a diagram, more on that later).
  • The look on Aaron's face when he saw his train for the first time.
  • The sweet sound of Aaron saying "All aboard!" as the train passes, granted it sounds more like "All da-board", still cute.
  • Jill's love of The Sound of Music, which is one of my favorite movies. Her favorite song by far is The Lonely Goatherd, mine is Edelweiss.
  • Time spent coloring with Jill. She's crazy creative. She hates bugs right now so she "draws" them on the paper and then smashes them. Kind of morbid, but kind of cute, no?
  • The beautiful weather we've been having lately. It's nice to be able to be outside for more than 15 minutes without pouring sweat.
  • Great family all around us!
  • Great friends that are coming for dinner this weekend!
  • A great date with Scott at Food and Wine this past weekend! Can't wait to do it again with the Billings in a few weeks!
What are you thankful for?

So back to this diagram thing, let me tell you about my experience yesterday. I have a sebaceous cyst on the crown of my head, I was under the impression that I had it removed back in July. I mean why else was she pulling and tugging on the top of my head? Apparently all of it didn't come out and it got infected. So I've been on some hardcore antibiotics since last Thursday. I mean hardcore too, you can't really stay in the sun, can't eat dairy until 2hours after you take it, no exercise because you may tear a tendon (yeah, this is FDA approved). So I go in yesterday to have it removed and I'm scared out of my mind for 2 reasons 1)the blood and 2) possible hair loss on the crown of my head. I am not from the South therefore I cannot "jack my hair to Jesus" to cover it. Scott and I get to the office and proceed to wait for an hour...one hour after my appointment was to start. The whole waiting room, and hallway, was packed with people.

Finally, I got called back and the doctor said he wasn't going to remove it because it was still infected and we'd probably have to do it again if he did it or some crazy thing like that. I think I was delirious at this point. So he said he was going to lance it open, insert my immediate panic here, and just let it drain. He numbs the area and then cuts it open and lets me know that the smell I smell is not his cologne it is in fact the smell of the bacteria that has been trapped in the cyst. I am so glad I did not eat breakfast because it would have been on the floor. After it was opened he had me apply pressure with some gauze and then, and here's where I discovered the cause of my one hour wait, he drew me a diagram of what causes a cyst, how it is removed, what will happen after this procedure and so on and so forth. I basically got an entire college anatomy lesson in 15 minutes. I can't really repeat anything he said because the entire time he was lecturing speaking I was thinking "This is why I've been waiting in that crappy waiting room?????" I wanted to hit him with the diagram, but decided not to for fear of whatever was leaking out my head splattering all over me.

Anyway, I'm hoping this lancing will take care of the problem. The only real big downside to this gaping wound in my head is that I probably shouldn't have my hair colored for 4-6 weeks. Not awesome, but if it means I don't have to sit through another "lesson" I'll do it.

Thanksgiving Thursday

So much to be thankful for this week! I am thankful for:
  • Scott having two days off this week! He has been on mandatory overtime lately and while it's nice to have the extra money, it really blows.
  • Aaron doing this:

  • Jilly and Mommy time yesterday. We went to Sephora and then to Starbucks, it was a bona fide girls afternoon and I cannot wait for many more!
  • A great birthday dinner with Mimi and Paw Paw last night for Mimi's birthday!
  • My Dad's accent, it may soon inspire an entire post, it's hilarious the more and more I listen to it.
  • My Mom's MOM-isms. They are priceless and would most certainly give the guy from "Sh*t my Dad says" a run for his money.
  • My favorite cousin that lives in South Carolina for motivating me to get my bum in shape enough to run a 5K (even though she thinks it's a half marathon) with her.
  • A great back to school week. I started classes on Tuesday and am working to finish my degree in Public Relations. I'm only a few credits shy of my degree and cannot wait to finish it!

I'm raising future yuppies, no seriously

Since it's pretty much a million degrees outside from sun up until a few hours after sun down and water gets dull after a while I have found a super yummy cool treat for myself, Starbuck's Tazo Passion Tea Lemonade. It's sooooooo yummy and I feel refreshed afterward, and when I say refreshed I mean I feel like my brain hasn't just melted into a pile of goo. There's only one problem with my yummy caffeine free treat:

I'm lucky if I get half of it. Both of the kiddos LOVE this drink, and I don't mind them having it since it's caffeine free. Jill even cries when it's empty (I cry on the inside as well) and poor Aaron is lucky if he can pry the cup out of Jill's hands long enough to take two sips.

So if you're keeping score on if my kids will end up being yuppie snobs, tack this one on the snob side, oh and add that they now say "bravo" after any musical number.

PS: Happy Birthday to my favorite Aunt that lives in South Carolina! Hope it's a great day Aunt Eunice!!!

Thanksgiving Thursday

This week I am thankful for:
  • Scott and his awesome coffee skills, especially on a day like today when Aaron thought it would be a good idea to wake up at 5:45.
  • Scott's support in everything.
  • Aaron being such a big helper! He helps us pick up the playroom every night. I completely plan to use this to my advantage until he doesn't think it's a game or begins to demand an allowance.
  • Jill's dramatics, sometimes. Example: We were watching Beauty and the Beast and after any musical number she would clap and yell (seriously) "Bravo! Bravo!" Where she learned that, I have no idea but it's hilarious.
  • Mitch reminding me that Jill is not a snob because she says "Bravo!", she would be a snob if she said "Bravissimo!".
  • Small inflatable pools in the backyard. Seriously, it's too hot for anything else.
  • Amazing family all around us.
  • A super fun day at Animal Kingdom on Sunday with our friends Bob and Vanessa!
  • Starbucks Tazo Passion Tea Lemonade, in the words of Kai-Lan, you make my heart feel super happy!
  • The kind people at Education.com for promoting my post on Tuesday, it was totally unexpected!
What are you thankful for this week?

We're good....I think?

So I think the snot is almost behind us, the rare vomit that occurred this morning, hmmmm well I'll keep you posted (nothing like the smell of milk coming up in the morning to get you going).

Between the heavy afternoon showers and the snot we've been pretty chill over here. Aaron did get to go with me to the pet store the other day to get our dog food. He loves the pet store. A trip that should have taken 30 seconds ended up taking 15 minutes because we had to look at ALL the fish. Thank God he didn't see the birds. We've been toying with the idea of getting a fish tank. Scott had a huge one before we started dating (it took up half the wall) and was really into it. He had a lion fish, puffer, two eels and some other ones. When he hears fish tank he thinks that's what we're going to do. I'm thinking goldfish. You got to love that about him, if he's going to do it he wants to do it the best way possible. Or at least the coolest way.

Since they felt so poorly the other day, on our way home from the pet store I got the kids smoothies from Starbucks (Aaron may or may not have gotten a package of Madeleine's). Both kids loved them, and I loved that they at least got something in their stomach. Besides, you need to start the Starbucks addiction early.

The kids also went with me to the doctor yesterday. Thank you to the nurse who bribed them with lollipops (granted they were Tootsie Pops, and I have an issue with that part), it definitely made the appointment less stressful. Aaron being mommy's true defender even yelled at the nurse when she gave me my vaccine (FYI parents you should be vaccinated against whooping cough) and Jill just sat and cried. I wanted to cry too Jill because man oh man did that hurt. You have to love that when they give you the shot they tell you to relax and not tense up and then JAB you with a needle. Isn't it a natural instinct to tense up when that happens? Aaron also flirted with one of the nurses, I had her my entire pregnancy and I think he recognized her voice. He had some extra smiles for Nurse Shannon and even gave her a high five.

I cannot wait for tomorrow, it will be the kids first real trip to the beach. I know we went to Sarasota a few months ago, but they didn't swim. I'm hoping the weather stays nice, no giant tar balls float up and that our friend Shaun doesn't teach our kids how to say inappropriate things. I have a feeling maybe 1 of the 3 won't happen.

Have a great and safe weekend everyone! Don't forget, still a few more days to enter the Frito-Lay giveaway!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

I know I say it every week, but where did the time go??? This week I am thankful for...
  • Friday being tomorrow and getting to share the big news. I'm not a very good secret keeper, and I am impressed that I have held out this long.
  • Awesome weather, even though the pollen is out of control. It hasn't been too hot down here, which is lovely. Yay for spring!
  • My kids and all that they do. Aaron had me laughing so hard yesterday and it made my afternoon. I love that they can change my whole day!
  • My Sara Snow book coming in yesterday! I have something new to read while my photos load on Facebook, Myspace and here!
  • Scott for being understanding during this crazy time (again can't wait until tomorrow!!!).
  • Health and the power of prayer. If you are so inclined, please visit MckMama and pray for her little boy Stellan.
  • I know I wasn't going to say it this week, but my coffee pot and the local Starbucks have had several visits from me this week, so thank you for being my caffeine boost at any given time!
  • Davy Jones. Even though we didn't get to see him, thank you for being at EPCOT because your fans gave me, Scott and Lani hours worth of conversation!
  • Signing Time. If you have kids, I totally recommend these! Jill smiles the second she hears "Hi, I'm Rachel!" Plus, it makes it easy for me to learn too!
  • Maria Shriver following me, yes me, on Twitter. I know it's probably some assistant who clicked me, but none the less, Maria Shriver is following me and I think that's awesome!
Hope you have a lot to be thankful for this week! Play along with Nicole at What a trip!
