Blonde no more...

I finally did it....I completely went brunette, no more blonde. I've been talking about doing it again for a while, but have never had the guts. I was not a fan of the last time my hair was dark, it just wasn't the right color, but this time I think it's perfect. Whatcha think?

The kids seemed to like the new hair color as well. The last time I went this dark they weren't too sure about it. Granted, they were a lot younger then.

This afternoon we popped over to Animal Kingdom to let the kiddos run around in the dino playground. We both have to be there because the area is just so big and both kids go in opposite directions. I am always amazed at how daring the kids are in here. For the longest time Aaron was petrified of our slide but he has zero problems going down the HUGE enclosed slide in this playground. Plus, they both climb the cargo nets like it's their job, it's really impressive.

I'm hoping all of that fresh air and running around has worn their little rear ends out, I know it wore us out!

The day I stood in line

Last night I went to Aveda's Fall Customer Appreciation Event thinking they actually performed the services that night. I was pretty pumped since I am in desperate need of a cut and color. When I got to Aveda there was already a line of like 20 people. Say what?! Well turns out you can only pre-book appointments at the discounted rate and buy products at the discounted rate that night. Um, ok. So after being bummed about this I decided to participate in my all time favorite activity, people watching. Oh it was good.

While in line outside (in jeans because I thought I'd be inside the whole time) the woman, that's using the word loosely, behind me is talking rather loudly to her friends and this is how it went down:

"Like I have an iPhone but like ya know like I totally like ya know don't need it, I mean really it's just like a phone, ya know? I mean I don't even use the internet on it, I mean like ya know why would I like ya know want to use internet on my phone ya know? Plus I don't like AT&T and ya know they have the iPhone until like I don't know like 2011 or 2012 or like 2013 or something like that, but ya know, ya know?"

I thought my head was going to explode, like OMG. Now aside from all the "like ya know's" and such why would someone buy an iPhone and then not use it? And if you don't like AT&T why would you get a phone that is exclusively sold through them that you don't even use and/or like?! The fact that I managed to retain brain cells astounds me, it really does.

I had to tune this chick out after about 2 minutes because I feared permanent damage, so I focused on the mother/twin daughter combo ahead of me. The one girl was apparently thinking of getting her hair cut and was unsure about it. You would have thought they were discussing some life altering event the way they were talking about what really only sounded like a trim. It's hair, it grows back. As long as your not chopping off your shoulder length hair into a pixie cut, it's not a "life changing" event. Just sayin'....

By the way this was just in the 10 minutes I was standing outside of the salon. I'm going back today to get my hair cut/colored which will make the 20% discount on the services pointless because I'm about to spend it in gas. Sigh, but like ya know OMG.

Thanksgiving Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

• Scott and all that he does. Have I mentioned he has lost 20lbs since February??? Isn't that amazing?! Way to go babe!

• Aaron's Goofy imitation (you know that yahoo-hoo-weeee), it is hands down the funniest thing I've heard and I need to get it on video.

• Coloring time with Jill, I should really feel privileged that she'd even allow me to touch her crayons, let only actually use them.

• Our family, you truly are the best.

• My sister Cathy keeping me abreast to all the deals on QVC, lol :)

• Being lucky enough to preview all the DVDs and toys we get to preview. It's pretty awesome getting them before they hit the stores.

• Places like Aveda Institute where I can get a color/highlight and cut for under $80 and it look amazing. And, I can't believe I'm saying this, that it takes a few hours, that way I can catch up on some reading (just finished You Cannot Be Serious and am about to start See Mom Run).

So I went to get my hair cut and colored today at the Aveda Institute. You got to love being able to get an overall color, partial highlight and cut/style for $78. What you don't have to love is the people who pour themselves into skin tight black pants (think Olivia Newton John in Grease, but they look like Vince Neil, now) and the vast array of slouch style boots. When did those make a come back and who said that was ok?! I mean why make it look like you have cankles? Maybe I'll have to ask my niece Melissa since she's into fashion and all. But, I digress...

So I check in and am immediately thinking something is not right because they didn't ask my last name, and it's not like I have a unique name (ask that Facebook quiz, it gave my parents an F-). But, it's a Wednesday, not busy, so I don't give it a second thought. Then this guy comes up and calls my name and I think "Funny, you don't look like Charissa..." but figured she did just take someone back, maybe they double booked her, whatever. Then I got nervous because I went back into the way back room, not the masters room. Ummm.....ok? I sit down and he goes, "So, just a haircut, right?". Did I hallucinate? "Um, and a highlight." "Oh yeah we can fit that in." "Fit that in? What name do you have?" Yeah, not mine. Clearly the ladies at the front desk need to be trained on what to do if TWO clients have the same first name. So I go back up front and recheck in and the Gossip Girl wannabe front desk girl tells me Jose will be right with me. Sorry? "I asked for Charissa." "Really? When?" "Um, when I called." "Oh, we have you marked down with Christine." Right, you read that? How did Jose become Christine? I have no idea, but I was finally going to the back to get my hair did (lol).

Now, let's talk about the crazy girl next to me! OH MY WORD! I have a tattoo, so I don't judge, however when you have (and I wish I was kidding) Princess (HUGE CROWN) Bebe on above you wrist I'm thinking something's not right. My ears definitely perked up and my peripheral vision became super human. So she starts talking to the poor girl that had to do her hair and I was in awe of how she did not slam the brush into her head, scream, and run away. This woman changed her mind every five seconds, seriously. It was amazing to witness, it really was. If I ever get a sitcom based on my life (hint NBC and ABC) she would be a character and I would try to work her into every episode.

Weekend Roundup

I've been really bad about posting lately...shame on me! Anyway...we've had a pretty chill weekend. I went to get my hair colored yesterday at the Aveda Institute. I went over a month ago, and we are currently in the process of lightening my hair without totally wrecking it. It is a long day (I was there from 8:30-12:45), but a full highlight only costs $48, sooooooo yeah I'm totally ok with that. Then last night we attempted to go to 4 o'clock mass, and since we are in a temporary location you need to get there at least 45 minutes early to guarantee a seat. We made it to the homily (about 30 minutes into mass) so it wasn't too bad. The kids were getting restless and wanted to talk the whole time, so we politely excused ourselves, maybe next week we'll have someone watch them? Last night Scott and I had our usual Saturday night movie date night in. It's nice to go out, but since it is hard to do movie nights are the next best thing!
Today was a big day in the Nethero home! The kids fed themselves breakfast this morning (YAHOO). They got to have pancakes and Cheerios, and then I gave them some banana. Aaron started out good and then he realized that hmm he was feeding himself and that was not cool. The hands immediately went up and he acted like he couldn't do it. Jill on the other hand jumped right into it and definitely enjoyed her breakfast. Here are some photos...
We also went to the farmers market (we've missed it so!). It was in a different location, but I like the new spot better, there seems to be a ton more space! We got a different type of zucchini today, it's small and round. The grower suggested that we hollow it out and put some ground beef, rice and parsley inside and bake it. I'll let you know how that turns out when we make it!
We went to lunch with the Pierce family today at Uno's. GOMOTT was having a "dough" raiser today and 20% of the check goes to our fundraising. It was humorous though, we had a HUGE table for just the six of us. There was enough room for Evan and Taylor to crawl on the seat between me and Melissa. It's always a good time though getting together with the Pierce's!
I'm really looking forward to this week, we have a ton going on! Wednesday we have a playdate with all our buddies at one of our favorite parks. And Thursday, well let's be honest, Thursday is the best day that has ever existed! Thursday is my birthday, yay!!! Scott is taking the day off and we are going to Disney to celebrate :) I can't wait to go and take the kids on all the rides again, I just love the looks on their faces when they are on the rides. There is nothing better than experiencing something like that through a child's eyes.
