Mommy and Me Monday: Down on the Farm

Mommy and Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious?
Hosted by Krystyn at Really, Are You Serious?

We had a pretty busy weekend over here! Saturday we had our friends the B6 over for dinner. We celebrated Oktoberfest this month and had sausage, sauerkraut, spaetzle and apple strudel. This was my first time making my Mom's sauerkraut recipe, and I am happy to report my marriage survived the smell.

Yesterday we went with a group from GOMOTT to Green Meadows Farm. Now, let me preface this with the fact that I am not a "hey let me get in there with the animals" kind of person, and I survived AND had fun. Each group gets a tour guide to take them around the huge area and tell you about the animals. First, we went on a hayride around the property. Aaron was in seventh heaven because it was being pulled by a tractor.

Then we got to see all the animals including: llamas, pigs, ducks, baby chicks, goats, sheep, a zorse (half horse half zebra, for real), rabbits, guinea pigs and birds (in cages thankfully). We also got to go on a train ride around the property too.

After seeing all of that they kids got to go on a pony ride. I thought Jill was going to lose her mind. She was all smiles the entire time! Aaron loved it too!

We had so much fun at the farm and really want to go back because there were some things we just didn't get to see. The kids were so pooped by the time we got to the ponies we decided to call it a day.

It's been a long day/week/some type of time frame

Good gracious what day is it even? Sunday? Are we in March yet? Did February even happen? What's my name? Seriously that is the type of week it has been. So crazy over here! I've been up before the sun almost every day this week, that is not normal.

Yesterday I helped out at GOMOTT's clothing exchange, it was definitely an all day extravaganza. I think the club did really well though, can't wait to hear the final total!

The kiddos hung out with Mimi and Paw Paw yesterday while we were at the sale. All four slept very well last night :)

Tomorrow I'm going to try something new. Krystyn from Really, are you serious? has started a new blog carnival called Mommy and Me Monday which encourages you to take a weekly photo of yourself and your children. How fun, right? I hope you play along with all of us, and that you had a great weekend!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>
It's been a fairly busy week this week, so naturally there is a ton to be thankful for! This week, I am thankful for...

  • Scott and all that he does. Fingers crossed that he gets a call from someone he has sent a resume to!
  • A great visit with Sandi, Michael and Kaitlyn!
  • All the American Girl/Bitty Baby furniture that Kaitlyn gave to Jill. And when I say all, I mean open the catalog, point, and we probably have it now. :)
  • Michael riding Manta with me, so I wouldn't chicken out when I got to the top :)
  • Mimi and PawPaw treating us to all the awesome dinners over the past week and a half. Most especially last night at Maggiano's!
  • Mimi and PawPaw letting us take the leftovers from Maggiano's :) Their food is awesome at the restaurant, but it always WAY better the next day!
  • Jill's new Lion King CD. As Cat told me a few weeks ago, my children are apparently South African, so this CD should be a welcomed gift to them! Thanks Mimi!
  • The new books the kiddos got from Busia and DziaDzio! I may have to install bookshelves into the walls to store all of the books they have, but that's always a good thing!
  • Nilla wafers! You are a savior in public places! Most especially restaraunts that take their time bringing out the kiddos food.
  • The rain this morning, it let us all sleep in a little. Well I got to sleep in a lot, but everyone else slept in too.
  • Scott allowing me to sleep an extra hour this morning :)
  • All of Lani's help while I've had family in town. You're the best!
  • Kelly from GOMOTT finding all those awesome prizes for the raffle (some of which we won! Yahoo!).
  • April and Melissa making me laugh during the board induction ceremony at Tuesday's meeting. I'm sure those photos of me laughing look awesome....uh huh... :)
  • My new Seaworld pass (I may have mentioned this last week?). Thanks Mimi and PawPaw!
  • Anything else I forgot to mention that happened this week. We are truly lucky to have what we have.

Weekend Roundup

I've been really bad about posting lately...shame on me! Anyway...we've had a pretty chill weekend. I went to get my hair colored yesterday at the Aveda Institute. I went over a month ago, and we are currently in the process of lightening my hair without totally wrecking it. It is a long day (I was there from 8:30-12:45), but a full highlight only costs $48, sooooooo yeah I'm totally ok with that. Then last night we attempted to go to 4 o'clock mass, and since we are in a temporary location you need to get there at least 45 minutes early to guarantee a seat. We made it to the homily (about 30 minutes into mass) so it wasn't too bad. The kids were getting restless and wanted to talk the whole time, so we politely excused ourselves, maybe next week we'll have someone watch them? Last night Scott and I had our usual Saturday night movie date night in. It's nice to go out, but since it is hard to do movie nights are the next best thing!
Today was a big day in the Nethero home! The kids fed themselves breakfast this morning (YAHOO). They got to have pancakes and Cheerios, and then I gave them some banana. Aaron started out good and then he realized that hmm he was feeding himself and that was not cool. The hands immediately went up and he acted like he couldn't do it. Jill on the other hand jumped right into it and definitely enjoyed her breakfast. Here are some photos...
We also went to the farmers market (we've missed it so!). It was in a different location, but I like the new spot better, there seems to be a ton more space! We got a different type of zucchini today, it's small and round. The grower suggested that we hollow it out and put some ground beef, rice and parsley inside and bake it. I'll let you know how that turns out when we make it!
We went to lunch with the Pierce family today at Uno's. GOMOTT was having a "dough" raiser today and 20% of the check goes to our fundraising. It was humorous though, we had a HUGE table for just the six of us. There was enough room for Evan and Taylor to crawl on the seat between me and Melissa. It's always a good time though getting together with the Pierce's!
I'm really looking forward to this week, we have a ton going on! Wednesday we have a playdate with all our buddies at one of our favorite parks. And Thursday, well let's be honest, Thursday is the best day that has ever existed! Thursday is my birthday, yay!!! Scott is taking the day off and we are going to Disney to celebrate :) I can't wait to go and take the kids on all the rides again, I just love the looks on their faces when they are on the rides. There is nothing better than experiencing something like that through a child's eyes.
That's about it over here, hope all is well with you!

Where is that holy water?

I know, my kids are matching, I NEVER do this! But I couldn't resist, both outfits are just so cute! So enjoy that photo, you won't be seeing anything like this ever again! Anyway...today was pretty relaxed. I have some stuff to do around the house, my Dad is coming in town this Wednesday. I can't wait! The kids were absolutely cracking me up today, they just have these personalities that are, well indescribable. We had a laughing match, I guess you would call it, and honestly I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard. It all started when Jill did her, as I call it, demon baby laugh, so I mimicked it, and then Aaron mimicked me, and so on and so forth. If my neighbors heard they were probably calling the Church to ask Father Jean to come down and bless the house and ward off any demons. Aaron's doing the demon voice too, funny how this voice surfaces around holy days. Jill has two more teeth, she is the BEST teether on the face of the Earth! I had no idea that any were coming in, and then BAM two teeth! Oh if only Aaron were that easy...
Tomorrow I have a GOMOTT meeting, haven't been in awhile. I'm helping with registration for the state conference this year. Paperwork and insane attention to detail is right up my alley (I had a binder that was color coded for my wedding, seriously). But other than that, not much else is really going on, I just wanted to share the photo of the day! Hope you had a great Monday!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

Another week has literally flown by. So this week I am thankful for...

  • Yup, you guessed it, the coffee pot. I figure this week will be the last I will be thankful for it, while it is awesome, the point has been made I think.
  • My husband's desk building skills. He had my new desk out of the box and constructed within 2 hours, and that included a break to feed the kids dinner! It's not often that I compliment his speedy construction skills :)
  • My annual pass to Disney. I love being able to just call Lani and say "Hey I gotta get out of the house want to meet at EPCOT?" and just go for maybe 2 hours. It's awesome.
  • All the positive response Lani and I are getting for the top secret project. As a side note if you have an etsy shop and would be willing to donate items to a giveaway please let us know!
  • The awesomeness that is Target. They always manage to have shelves stocked and team members close by in case said item is not on the shelf. The same cannot be said for Walmart, at least the one by my house anyway.
  • My daughter eating her bottle by herself. It gives me a few minutes of alone time with Aaron, which hardly ever happens since he tends to nap longer than Jill. I do wish Aaron would eat his bottle by himself, but I like the time we get to spend together.
  • Bravo TV creating yet another trashy show for me to watch. Apparently they are starting a Real Housewives of New Jersey, for real! I wonder what fruit they will be holding in the opening credits?
  • April organizing all the play dates for our kindergarten class with GOMOTT. She spreads them out so it's fair to everyone, plus she totally scopes the places out so they don't suck! Tomorrow's is at a park that's on Triplet Lake Lane, seriously, how funny?

We went to Dr. Phillips Park today with some of the other MoM's from GOMOTT. It's a really nice park, they have foam on the playground and lots of shade. They also have a splash park which will be awesome in the summer. A lot of MoM's came today, it was nice to meet some of the ones I hadn't met yet. All of our kids are right around the same age which makes it fun. All I can say is there were a lot of kids, and I mean A LOT. I think with adults included I think there were like 30 of us. A big thank you to Lani for sending me over some of the pictures from today!
The park took up a big chunk of our day today, and definitely made bedtime easier, which is always a good thing.
In other news...HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATHY!!! Today is my sisters birthday (I won't say how old) and I truly hope she had an awesome day.
