The Final Day of Tay Tay's Visit...Or Was It?

On Tay Tay's last day we made our way to Magic Kingdom. Naturally, we made several completely necessary popcorn stops.

It was definitely a really warm day, but the crowds were not awful. We were able to get on quite a few rides (thank goodness for Fastpass!). We even made our way on to the speedway. I let Jill drive...

Aaron and Tay Tay were speeding up behind us. It was a super fun and super warm day.

The kiddos snoozed the entire way to the airport and I headed home. Tay Tay's flight was delayed the moment she stepped foot in the airport and that night she sent me a text saying her flight was canceled. Thank goodness I didn't strip the bed!

The next morning when the kiddos were getting ready they didn't realize Tay Tay was still at the house. Jill noticed that Tay Tay's suitcase and phone were still in her room. She was concerned that Tay Tay forgot them. Then she saw Tay Tay and the expression on her face was priceless.

I'm so glad I was able to spend a few days with my sister. We Bednarek girls sure know how to make the most of our girls weekends.

The House Divided

For Tay Tay's third day we went to the White Sox - Rays game. The house was divided between Rays and Sox fans, but it was still an awesome time. It was also father - daughter day at the park, so we sat in a section with a bunch of father-daughter pairs.

Aaron was really in to the game and was pretty happy that we were in prime foul ball territory. I was pretty pleased that they had Reds Ale on tap.

The Sox lost and Tay Tay and I kept trying to guess at which point our Dad changed the channel. Since it was a family day at the park the kiddos were able to run the bases (I seriously love this).

And since it was father-daughter day Jillian received a special baseball and we all received hats (except Tay Tay, she politely declined).

The game was a blast, but I think all of us were still a little tired from the day before.

We still have another day with Tay Tay, so check back!

"Should we get red or white sangria?"

On Tay Tay's second day we went to EPCOT for the day. We rode Test Track, Ellen's Universe of Energy, Spaceship Earth and so many more. We also had lunch at one of our favorites, Via Napoli. Naturally, Tay Tay and I had some sangria.

We decided on the white since we just had a pitcher or red the night before. I feel like it should be noted I do not normally drink pitchers of sangria two days in a row, but my sister was in town and well...yeah.

It was comical to say the least. It was also really delicious.

I mean, maybe we were giggling a lot after the pitcher, but I'm sure the pizza we ate soaked up a lot of the wine. Well, pretty sure.

We even stopped by the lumberjacks and Aaron took a photo with them for his Tay Tay. I was laughing so hard that the photo ended up blurry (which maybe I didn't notice until later because...well...sangria.).

Somehow we all made it to see the fireworks and scored a sweet spot in Mexico to view them.

Stay tuned, there are still two more days of Tay Tay's visit to talk about!

"My Tay Tay is here."

My sister was in town this past week for a work thing and decided to extend her weekend and spend some time with us. Naturally, she came with gifts that only a Tay Tay can give...

I was able to bring her in to the school with me to pick up the kiddos and all of the teachers were already aware that Jill's Tay Tay was in town. She also made sure that she announced to everyone that she was with her Tay Tay.

That night we went to one of our favorite cajun restaurants and we may or may not have consumed an entire pitcher of blackberry sangria, which may have resulted in this...

That was only the beginning kids...only the beginning.

More to come.

I Know You Are But What Am I?!

My sister and I have a habit of texting silly photos to each other. She totally hit the jackpot the other day with this gem:

As luck would have it, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was on this weekend. Good God that movie is funny.

I'm pretty lucky to have a sister that sends me some of the silliest photos to brighten my mood. Thank you, Tay Tay!

Washington's Crossing of the Potomac Version 2.0

I'm going to a conference in DC this summer and this past week my sister said she wanted to join me in the lovely land of cherry blossoms and politicians. Apparently, I need a chaperone (her words), which translates to her wanting to go on vacation (my words). Now, if you've read this blog for any amount of time you can already see how this girls trip could quickly turn into a matter of national security. I'm not even exaggerating.

Exhibit One:

This simple image then turned into an email thread about borrowing ice buckets so the water would be accurate and having an officer in the US Coast Guard (who shall remain nameless) there to save us when we inevitable jump into the water fall overboard.

Exhibit Two:

The tweet my sister put up after I posted the above photo. What's scary is that she will actually try and locate a hat, flag and oars.

Exhibit Three:

I received this message today from Cathy. DC, you have been warned, the Bednarek girls are crossing the Potomac.

Tay Tay's Visit

We all had a fantastic week with my sister Cathy (Tay Tay). I'm not totally sure how she will be able to wake up without her helpers every morning.

Tay Tay celebrated her 40th birthday while she was in town, so we all went to Kona Cafe, which is her favorite. After that we went to Magic Kingdom to watch the Electric Light Parade (again, her favorite). We spent the whole next day at Magic Kingdom as well and then the weekend was dedicated to the race.

The kids were definitely missing Tay Tay this morning, and I think Jill asked a dozen or more times if she could go home with her.

We had so much fun and are so glad you came down Tay Tay! As Aaron said last night "Tay Tay can come down one more time, and then that's it!" :)

The Gym Incident

I love my parents, they absolutely crack me up. Yesterday was no exception. As many of you know, my MOM had knee replacement surgery this year and is doing amazingly well. She decided to join the gym that my Dad goes to and now they work out together at some ungodly hour in the morning. There is nothing that makes me laugh harder than when my Dad talks about the gym, and when you have a case of pneumonia it hurts so good. I'm not kidding guys, I could not text my sister fast enough to ask if she heard "the gym story". Here's how it went down...

My Dad is talking to me about how they went to the gym, and how on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's that gym is always busy. Please cue the Chicago accent...ahem:

Dad: All the THREADmills are taken but they had one of them air bikes but you know with that other knee she can't really do the bike. So I put her on that machine, you know, so she could work on her TIE muscles and build up strength in her legs. (*My face is already buried in my shirt to stifle my laughter*)

Me: Yeah, so how did she do?

Dad: She did good except when we went to leave she realized she lost her phone. I don't even know why she brought the God D@mn thing into the gym in the first place. And it's not like anybody stole it, we haven't had that problem there. I mean I would question it if she had it in her jacket, but she didn't.

Me: Did it fall between the seats in the car?

Dad: No, I checked. It probably feel out by that one machine because you are at an angle and it was in her pocket. I don't know why she even brought the thing in. She's there looking for it now.

So I razzed my MOM a little about it when she got home but then after texting with my sister we devised our plan (cue evil laugh):

Tay-Tay: I just called and left them a message telling them we want to know if they have locker's there.

Me: "Don't you two have anything better to do? Jesus Christ!" (This is our expected response from either or both parents)

Tay-Tay: Who two? Jesus and Christ? They are one in the same.

Me: I would pee my Pampers if you said that to them. Oh.My.God.

So a few hours go by and I call my parents to give them an update on my mother in law. After talking with my MOM for a while I casually say....

Me: So, do they have lockers at that gym?

MOM: Oh you know, what you two can go to hell!

And the laughter hurt....it hurt so good.
