Thanksgiving Thursday

This week I am thankful for:

  • Scott having a job. You tend to forget how hard some people have it and that they cannot find any work. We are so lucky to have Disney, literally, in our backyard and that they are always hiring.
  • Scott in general. I'm a pretty lucky gal and got myself quite the catch :)
  • Jill's Joey Lawrence impression, makes me laugh everytime!
  • Aaron's kisses and the noise he makes when he wants a kiss (he smacks his lips together).
  • Great friends!
  • $10 off coupons at Sweetbay! Keep it up, it's awesome!
  • Great family support around us.
  • The new show Modern Family on ABC. I almost needed to borrow the kids Pampers I was laughing that hard!
  • Weelicious.com. Catherine has awesome recipes that are whole family friendly. I made the cheesy avocado quesadilla's for the kiddos for lunch and they were yummy. I ended up eating them, the kids could care less.

The Grocery Game

Today I did some much needed grocery shopping. Now that we're on a tight budget I kind of like grocery shopping (weird, right?). It has definitely turned into a game of how many things can I throw in my cart and keep it at $100 or less? Today I definitely impressed Scott! I made a quick run to Winn-Dixie because they had chicken breast and pork chops buy one get one free (I KNOW!) so I had to stock up. I walked out with 6 lbs of chicken breast and 12 pork chops for $20, yup $20. Then I headed over to Sweetbay and stuffed my cart to the max and just hit $100. So yeah I spent a little more this week, but I won't have to buy meat for a while, so it all works out in the long run :)

I made the kiddos a new dinner this evening, blue corn chip crusted tilapia. I got the recipe from Weelicious.com (we just featured them on Multiples and More). I need to work on my "crusting" skills as you can see in the photo....

But Aaron LOVED it! Jill ate enough of it to get the mandarin oranges she spotted on the counter, but hey, I'll take it! Scott liked it a lot too, he was sneaking some when he thought I wasn't looking.

Here's some quick video of the kiddos playing around today....

We also hung out with Mimi and PawPaw today. Jill loves running in the kitchen and dancing on the mat in front of the sink! Aaron of course loves the big screen, but mainly because he can see his own reflection in it. If the weather cooperates this weekend we will hopefully be back there to go swimming :)

In other news, today is my Aunt Eunice's 70th birthday! Happy Birthday Aunt Eunice, I hope you had an awesome day!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

Didn't I just write my list for last week???? Oh well...here we go again! This week I am thankful for...

  • Scott and all that he does for us!
  • Two beautiful kiddos that always manage to make me laugh!
  • PawPaw letting me make his birthday cake today! You're gonna love it!
  • Both sets of parents and all they do for us.
  • The nurse today telling me there is no possible way I could have had twins because I don't look like I could. Totally made my day, which makes me wonder if they just say that for that reason...hmmmm
  • The manager at Sweetbay who has twins and always asks me how my kiddos are doing whenever I'm in there. It's nice to go to a store like that.
  • Steve Perry and Rick Springfield's insane fan base! I tagged them both in my post yesterday and got a ton of extra traffic from their fans. Awesome!
  • Naptime, what a wonderful time.
  • The truck not hitting Jenn and I yesterday on our way home from Winter Garden Village. Seriously, we are not allowed to ride in cars together anymore (read last Thursday to find out why).
That's all I got right now. Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Magical Meatballs?

Today was an interesting day to say the least. I know the kiddos are tired, I just know it, but they don't seem to want to nap. Oh and when I say they I mean Aaron. He only took an hour nap this morning and an hour nap this afternoon. I think he is getting some teeth or something, plus his nose is kind of stuffy (possibly from the shots?). He's also been really picky about eating which is so not normal. Jill on the other hand, wow, she napped for 2 hours each time and devoured her lunch AND dinner. Maybe they switched places?
I took them to the supermarket today, something I rarely if ever do, and the reason why was again proven today. So I get to Sweetbay and had my fingers crossed that one of those God awful car carts would be there, and of course, nope not there, so stroller and a hand cart it is! We get in the store and things are going smooth, I got cocky, I really did. Then it hit the fan. I could hear it "She's touching me! No he's touching me!" whine whine whine! Noooooooooooooo!!!!! We were doing so well! We made it to aisle 5, AISLE 5! So I was trying to fly through the other aisles getting what I needed then I saw her. You know who, the woman with the preschooler/kindergartner that should be in school but instead is in the previously mentioned cart with like 3 things in her basket. Yeah, that really grates my nerves. A) Your kid should be in school B) Your kid can walk and is way to big for the car and C) YOU HAVE ONE CHILD use the regular cart! Sigh....anyway we got everything we needed and left without any problems other than whining.
So I took Lani's advice and made her turkey meatballs for dinner for the kiddos tonight. It was like the heaven's opened and choirs of angels were singing, it was the most amazing dinner I have ever witnessed. Jill ate 2 whole meatballs and stared at me like "Hey lady keep it coming!" and Aaron also ate 2 meatballs. Plus they had a thing of yogurt. It was amazing! No fussing, no nothing, just the sweet sounds of silence. Alleluia! Thanks again for the recipe Lani!
So yeah, that was our day. Hope yours was great!

Mission Organic 2010

My favorite cousin that lives in South Carolina, Debbie, sent me this since she knew I tend to eat more organic and natural foods, so I thought I would pass it along to you. Mission Organic 2010 is a pledge to eat and buy at least 10% of your products organic. So basically when you go to the store try and have 1 in every 10 items you buy be organic. When you register on the site there is a booklet that they give you that shows you the pesticide numbers (yuck-o) on imported and domestic produce. It's honestly disgusting when you really look at it. Grocery stores are making it a lot easier though to go organic and start buying healthier foods. I know Publix has an entire Greenwise section in their store, and Sweetbay has overhead signs that point out all the organic food that they have. I know organic is more expensive, but honestly in the long run you will be so thankful that you did it. If you don't want to go all out on the organic, just pick a few items, like your root veggies, meats and diary. You will notice a difference, I promise. And that is my public service announcement for the month :) Hope you're having a great day!

Weekend Recap

We made our weekly trip to the farmers market this morning, in hopes that we would beat the rain (that we desperately were in need of), which we did, but no deal. The vendors were all packing up because the rain was on it's way. So we ran to the new supermarket we have by our house, Sweetbay, if you have one by you I highly recommend it, it's like a cross between Whole Foods and Publix. The kids got to ride in the shopping cart that has the little car on the front. Oh my gosh, I wish I had my camera, it was so cute! Plus, they loved it because they had something to play with, and everyone fussed over them. My kids are total hams, what can I say?
We had our friend Bob over for dinner tonight. Bob is a fraternity brother of Scott's and was actually at the hospital with us the first 2 days of Aaron and Jill's lives. It was good to have him over and the kids loved having him around. Jill wasn't too sure at first, suddenly we have become shy. Aaron warmed right up though and let Bob carry him all around the house.
The kids have now moved up a size in clothing, and I have to say it's kind of funny. Here's a few pictures of them in their new PJ's...
Other than that it has been a pretty chill weekend. My brother and sister-in-law are going to be in town for the next few days so it will be nice to meet up with them. We haven't seen them since December. Hope you had a great weekend!
