Way back When-esday : Way back in the day

Dateline: 1955ish?
Who: Bottom row is my Grandpa and Grandma, Top row is my Aunt Eunice, my Dad, my Aunt Betty Jean.

I wanted to post this photo when my Dad was coming in town, but I couldn't figure out my scanner, but since I have, yay here is the photo! I would write more about it, but I really don't know much about it.

Yesterday was pretty good. The kids were unusually well behaved. You know what I mean, they went down for long naps, no problem, ate lunch no problems, played nicely together the WHOLE time. It was weird. Then we went to EPCOT with Lani and the kids for a walk. It was also surprisingly calm, very weird.

So pretty much all of that was the calm before the storm. I had a meeting last night so after the kids were fed and in bed I ran out for my meeting (and to get the kids outfits for Sunday). When I got home I was doing some work and Scott had to convince me to finally go to bed. So I'm laying there and I hear it, something I haven't heard in many months, Jill crying out in the middle of the night. Jill decided to get up at midnight, full on up too, ready to go, and stayed up until one am. Awesome. Hopefully that means she will be taking a nice long morning/afternoon nap.

Also, I have to do a quick shout out to my nephew Jeffrey. His birthday was Monday, and I totally forgot to post it on here. Sooooooo happy birthday Jeffrey!

Somebody has a case of the Mondays

Have you seen the movie Office Space? You know whenever Peter complains about something and people keep going "Sounds like somebody has a case of the Mondays!". I feel like I am living those scenes over and over and over again. We are a week out from the kids 1st birthday party (sigh) and it's like I suddenly realized it. But yet, here I am writing on my blog about how nothing is getting done. Amazing, isn't it? Yup, case of the Mondays right here!
The kids however most definitely do not have a case of the Mondays and would rather run all over and have me join in. You sneaky little ones! We tried feeding ourselves lunch again today, some chicken/carrot ravioli's and carrots. Aaron ate a lot of it, but of course I had to feed it to him, I mean really I expected him to feed himself breakfast AND lunch! Silly Mommy! Jill wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. She ate one ravioli and one carrot. Apparently we are on a diet because of the party on Sunday. Girls.... Not like I should say anything, I'm so close to my pre-baby weight it's not even funny. But the scale just doesn't want me to dip under the 150 mark. Seriously, if it happens I will dedicate an entire post to it, complete with photos, not kidding. That was my goal though, within the first year to lose ever single pound I put on, so with only 5 to go, I can't really complain, right? Ok, well enough rambling, time to go do something else that does not pertain to what I should be doing :)

Just keep swimming!

Today was a pretty busy day. Originally we had no plans, but then last night a ton of plans magically appeared. This morning Scott and I rearranged the office/playroom to make more room for the kids. They really needed more space, so now we just need to get more pieces for the playard and we should be all set. The kids also fed themselves lunch today, very exciting for me! They had ravioli's and carrots. Jill LOVED the carrots and for a while that was all she would eat. Aaron was not a fan of anything at first and then he realized it was yummy and continued to eat. Here are some photos...After lunch we took the kids to St. Faustina's because they were having a flag football game between the Knights of Columbus and the teen group. This is the second game that they have had, but this one wasn't as big. We only stayed for a little while because we had plans to meet up with our neighbors Bob and Peg. We had a nice visit with them and got to see video of their house in New Jersey that they would decorate for Christmas. Now when I say decorate I mean DECORATE. I wish I had a link that I could put here so you could see it. Their decorations were truly amazing, they estimated that at least 250,000 people came through their yard/house to look at the decorations and see Santa. It was amazing to see. Here are some photos from the game...
After our visit we went to Mimi and PawPaw's to take the kids swimming for the first time and have a cookout. It was AWESOME! The kids had a great time and honestly, the photos and video speak for themselves...

And I was awarded the Kreativ Blogger award from Missy at Two little monkeys! Missy has an awesome blog herself, and was actually the feature interview last week at Multiples and More. If you are into do-it-yourself crafty projects check her out, she has the cutest projects!

Anyway, here are the rules:
1. When given the award, you list 7 things that you love.
2. Pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love. Be sure to tag them and let them know they've won. (You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard.)

Things I love:
1) My darling husband Scott
2) My children, Aaron, Jillian and my first born, my puppy Morgan
3) My family
4) My friends
5) Bubble baths and a trashy novel (a la Danielle Steel)
6) Hot stone massages...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
7) The little things the kids do and just watching them grow and become their own person.

Now I give this award to 7 friends and bloggers (this means you get to put the cute little award on your blog so don't let me down by not participating and passing it on)!
1) Lani from Triplets: Who knew? She also is my partner at Multiples and More and has started another blog about her training to run the Disney marathon for charity (I highly recommend you clicking on the link to check it out)
2) April from Our Triplets. April taught me that you just need to get out of the house and whatever happens, happens. If it wasn't for her I would never leave my house...ever
3) Melissa from Pierce Twins. We're the young ones in the group, plus she's the only one that will recite SNL with me. LOVE it!
4) Nicole from What a trip! Nicole is so inspiring, she's a super MoM and an author. How she does it still baffles me!
5) Cheryl from Twinfatuation. I don't have enough space on here to talk about Cheryl! I gush about her all the time though!
6) Michelle from Live, Laugh and Learn. I love her blog! Love, love LOVE it!
7) Kellie from Team Darnell. I love reading her blog, honestly I do! Her boys are almost 2 months older than my kiddos so I love reading what's right around the corner!

Ok! Was that post long enough for you??? Hope you had a great weekend!

The Great American Pie Festival

Yesterday the kids, Mimi and I went to get them some new clothes at Carter's. Aaron is now in 24 month clothing, yes my almost 1 year old is in 24 month clothing, and Jill is in 18 months. Carter's is having their summer sale so we were able to get a ton of stuff for not a lot of cash, which is always nice. Thanks again Mimi! :)
When we got home the kids were playing and Aaron finally discovered that he is in fact bigger than Jill, see...Ah it has only just begun, right? Needless to say he got to play with the jungle by himself, Jill found something else to play with.
Today we met up with the Adams and Lyons families at the Great American Pie Festival in Celebration. It was nice to all get together on a beautiful day! The festival itself was ok, not a whole lot going on, but a ton of pie. Did you know you can paint the top of a pie? I didn't, but apparently it's true. Here are some more photos from the dayHadden, Aaron and JillThe groupSweet Potato Pie (seriously that is their name)

Tomorrow we have a busy day planned. Originally we just planned on going to Mimi and PawPaw's to go swimming (which by the way required me buying a swimsuit, sigh it was not fun). But now we are going to the Knights of Columbus flag football game for a little while, then to our neighbors house to visit, then to Mimi and PawPaw's for swimming and a cook out. I can't wait to see the kids in the pool! I'm sure I'll have a ton of photos to post tomorrow!
Hope you had a great day!

Thanksgiving Thursday and our day at Magic Kingdom

Well there's a lot to be thankful for today, so let's get right into it! I'm thankful for...

  • My parents deciding that one more kid wasn't so crazy! See, 26 years later and I'm still keeping you young! You're welcome :)
  • The awesome birthday I had today with my husband and the kids at Magic Kingdom!
  • Disney giving annual passholders gift cards instead of a day free (yahoo $75!) for their birthday!
  • Peter Pan giving the kids an extra special magical moment! He totally sat and played with the kids for like 5 minutes, it was awesome!
  • The dancer at the parade that stopped and talked to the kids (in the middle of the parade!). You are cool lady in the yellow dress!
  • All the birthday wishes from everyone today! You all are so sweet!
  • The wonderful gifts I got today! Most especially the Bryan Adams CD's and photo printer from my darling Scott (don't laugh about the CD he rocks!).
  • The bottle of Barefoot Chardonnay that Lani and I had the other night. Wine giggles are the best!
  • My parents coming down here in like 8 days! They should move here right? I think so!
Like I said in my list today was awesome at Magic Kingdom! Disney is doing this thing this year where you can go in on your birthday for free, but if you have an annual pass you can get a gift card, fastpass thingy or free admission next year on your birthday. Yeah we went with the gift card, for sure. I got the kids some cute t-shirts (organic too, go Disney!) and one for myself. Yup, that came to $74.50. But anyway, we took the kids on Snow White, It's a Small World, Cinderella's Carousel, and The Laugh Floor. Plus the kids got to meet Peter Pan and all the citizens of Main Street! Peter Pan spent like 5 minutes with them just playing and making them laugh. That totally made my day! It's cheesy but there is nothing like watching something special happen to your kids at such a big place like Disney. Even though I used to work there and do know that they do this, a lot, it's still awesome! Then we watched the parade, Snow White waved at the kids, so did Donald, Dale, a ton of the dancers and Ariel. One of the dancers even stopped and talked to the kids for a minute, yeah during the parade! Here's some photos from the day, I'm waiting on the video to upload, it's taking longer than normal so I will post it tomorrow. Hope you had an awesome day!Scott and Jilly waiting to go on Snow WhiteMe and Aaron waiting to go on Snow WhiteMe and the kids on Cinderella's CarouselAaron and I on It's a Small WorldJill and Scott on It's a Small WorldPeter Pan, Aaron and JillHow sweet is this? Thanks Peter! All tuckered outMe and the kiddos waiting for the parade

And we're back...

So the rest of today was much better once Aaron took a nice 2 hour nap (ALLELUIA!). We had a playdate this morning at Dr. Phillips Park with the Pierce family and some new friends. Jill couldn't grasp the concept that Taylor is not Aaron and she cannot sit on him or crawl over him or smack him in the head with a phone. But it was a fun day, and the weather was perfect! Can't wait for the next one!And like I said Aaron took a glorious 2 hour nap when we got home. The rest of the afternoon was fun we just hung out around the house and the kids got to crawl around outside of the playard. Jill is getting so much better with walking, she hardly falls down anymore. Aaron will walk if you hold his hand, but still prefers crawling.
Tomorrow we are going to Magic Kingdom to celebrate the best day in the world (my birthday yay!). Don't forget to head over to the multiples blog and learn about Sara Snow and how you can have a green home!

One padded room please!

I've been in a serious funk this week. The kids are seriously driving me within an inch of my sanity (I hear padded cells are lovely and maybe after this week will spend the day/weekend in one). Aaron is teething, I think, can't see any teeth but all the other signs are there, and the whining. OH the whining! It's that nails on the chalkboard type, and of course he's whining "MAMA". Why is it never Dada I wonder? Plus all he wants to do is climb on me and heaven forbid Jill gets within an inch of me because he will pitch a total fit. Now onto my darling Jill, oh she's a patience tester now isn't she! I love that she tries to be independent, but gosh...any meal is a full on struggle right now and when she's not eating she's beating the stew out of her brother, or antagonizing him. I still don't know which is worse.
Last night Lani and I had a "business" meeting which quickly turned into a gab fest filled with the wine giggles. Ah good times. Chardonnay you never tasted so good!
That's it over here, hope your day is going well!

Thanks Fisher Price, no really!

Can we talk about the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy for a second? Now let me start by saying, this is an adorable toy and my children LOVE it! However, why is it sooooooo creepy? I mean seriously? Look at it! And on top of that it's super sensitive and goes off ALL THE TIME! It even goes off when nobody is in the room! A few months ago it went off at 3 am! All we heard was "Foot...Yellow Foot! I love you!" I about wet the bed. All I could think was who is breaking into my house and why are they coming through the play room? Scott almost took the batteries out that night. Then nothing happened for a while, until last night. Scott and I were getting ready to go to bed and we heard "Foot...Yellow Foot! Hand! Green Hand! I love you!" Why are you so creepy dog?!?! And all I could think was about Lani telling me about this psychic that said when toys randomly talk to you it's loved ones from your past coming back to tell you they love you. Thanks psychic lady! And thank you Fisher Price for the creepiest child's toy next to Chucky!

Weekend Roundup

I've been really bad about posting lately...shame on me! Anyway...we've had a pretty chill weekend. I went to get my hair colored yesterday at the Aveda Institute. I went over a month ago, and we are currently in the process of lightening my hair without totally wrecking it. It is a long day (I was there from 8:30-12:45), but a full highlight only costs $48, sooooooo yeah I'm totally ok with that. Then last night we attempted to go to 4 o'clock mass, and since we are in a temporary location you need to get there at least 45 minutes early to guarantee a seat. We made it to the homily (about 30 minutes into mass) so it wasn't too bad. The kids were getting restless and wanted to talk the whole time, so we politely excused ourselves, maybe next week we'll have someone watch them? Last night Scott and I had our usual Saturday night movie date night in. It's nice to go out, but since it is hard to do movie nights are the next best thing!
Today was a big day in the Nethero home! The kids fed themselves breakfast this morning (YAHOO). They got to have pancakes and Cheerios, and then I gave them some banana. Aaron started out good and then he realized that hmm he was feeding himself and that was not cool. The hands immediately went up and he acted like he couldn't do it. Jill on the other hand jumped right into it and definitely enjoyed her breakfast. Here are some photos...
We also went to the farmers market (we've missed it so!). It was in a different location, but I like the new spot better, there seems to be a ton more space! We got a different type of zucchini today, it's small and round. The grower suggested that we hollow it out and put some ground beef, rice and parsley inside and bake it. I'll let you know how that turns out when we make it!
We went to lunch with the Pierce family today at Uno's. GOMOTT was having a "dough" raiser today and 20% of the check goes to our fundraising. It was humorous though, we had a HUGE table for just the six of us. There was enough room for Evan and Taylor to crawl on the seat between me and Melissa. It's always a good time though getting together with the Pierce's!
I'm really looking forward to this week, we have a ton going on! Wednesday we have a playdate with all our buddies at one of our favorite parks. And Thursday, well let's be honest, Thursday is the best day that has ever existed! Thursday is my birthday, yay!!! Scott is taking the day off and we are going to Disney to celebrate :) I can't wait to go and take the kids on all the rides again, I just love the looks on their faces when they are on the rides. There is nothing better than experiencing something like that through a child's eyes.
That's about it over here, hope all is well with you!

Way back When-esday: Jamaica

Date: May 2006
Where: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Our 3rd anniversary is right around the corner, so I've been flipping through our photos and stumbled upon this one. I have to say this is my favorite photo of us (again, let's pretend this is what we still look like!). Scott and I stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios while we were there, and I totally recommend them! We had a butler, concierge and everything! Ocho Rios is gorgeous by the way! We had an amazing time there, we climbed Dunns falls, took a jeep ride into the mountains, swam with dolphins and went to the local flea market. Sigh....the carefree days!
