He's back.....

So remember how back in December we got a visit from the big black snake? Ummm he's back....and bigger....and we can't find him. Yeah. Scott pulled in the driveway tonight and saw the tail of the snake and when he got out of the car it scurried (I guess you would say scurried) away and went to hide under our garden hose. My husband being the redneck (and I say that in the nicest way possible) that he is, decided to get the shovel and kill it. Well in the time it took him to tell me all this the snake disappeared. Awesome...
Ready for another awesome story for today? Apparently late last night at the good ole Lake County Prison an inmate escaped. He was working in the water treatment facility because he's, how did they say it....a "non life threatening" prisoner.....yeah so now he's somewhere around here and should be considered "extremely dangerous and possibly armed". Yeah, the prison is like 20 miles from the house....Awesome! I mean....wow, just awesome....
That's all the excitement for today, no seriously. Be sure to check out Multiples and More to win a signed copy of Twinspiration by Cheryl Lage (and check out my super cool interview with her)!

I love a parade!

We went to Magic Kingdom today with Lani, Lily, Ben and Cameron. Another reason I love the annual pass and being 15 minutes from Disney, we decided at noon we were going and were there in time for the parade! It would never be a trip to Disney though if a) we didn't cause a scene (there was a car accident between the car next to me and the car next to them) b) lose a hat in the parking lot and c) be compared to Octomom. It was awesome though, and we had a really great time, here are some photos of our day...In the parking lot looking for Cameron's hat
On the monorail heading over

Hey Ben!

That's it for the day, hope you had a great one!

What did we do this weekend?

So I have some catching up to do. I've talked more about my
awesome work project and less about my family. So the other day my children decided to boycott nap time, all day. Here is a photo of Jill around 4 pm that day...

I'm starting to fear that they are about to give up a nap. I really hope they don't, that's Mommy time, meaning that's coffee and shower and lunch time.
The kids are really into Signing Time. We have the first volume called "My first signs" and the second Jill hears "Hi! I'm Rachel!" this is what she looks like...
And Aaron...They both love the DVD though and I like it a lot too. It makes it easy for me to understand sign language. Scott took 4 semesters in college and loves being able to get back into it.
I'm really getting into Mission Organic. It's like a challenge for me now at the grocery store. I've switched to organic coffee (I know!), organic eggs, organic/natural laundry detergent (Seventh Generation is awesome by the way) organic/natural cleaning products (Method rocks my socks off), and even organic pizza (Amy's Natural is out of this world!). I can't wait to go back to the farmers market next week, we haven't been in a while because of Scott's R.C.I.A masses, and we've definitely noticed the difference (price and taste wise).
We got the kitchen baby proofed this weekend. Scott and PawPaw installed the cabinet locks (that I always forget are on there) so now all we need are gates to block off the living room. I think that will cover it for a while. While Mimi and PawPaw were here Jill took Mimi's cane (her new favorite toy) and crawled around the house with it....Aaron was busy playing though and could kind of care less about the cane, for now anyway...This morning was kind of nasty out. It rained all morning so the kids and I stayed home while Scott went to mass. The kids did like watching the rain fall, or they just like looking out the window, not sure which yet...And they both still love that house they got yesterday! I know I promised video, but for some reason One True Media is not a fan of me today and does not want me to upload anything, so here's a photo of Jill playing in the doorwayShe loves to push the doorbell which drives our dog insane! Aaron likes to play with the sun and moon that are on top. They both like to sit on either side and open and close the door at each other, it's cute to watch!
That's all I can think of right now, plus this is becoming a really long post, sooooo on that note enjoy the rest of your weekend and check out the new contest at Multiples and More!

Short and sweet

Good morning, yes I'm super perky right now, I've been up since 5:30 am. Why you ask? I went to the GOMOTT twin sale. It's like a giant garage sale where you can get a lot of really nice stuff super cheap. I went looking for baby gates, but didn't see any I liked, and ended up coming home with 2 pairs of shorts each for the kids, an Elmo DVD and the Laugh and Learn House for the kids. Grand total: $28. Yup, that's it. The kids love the house, they were glued to it once they saw it. I have some video, I'll upload it later.
A very big thank you to everyone who helped make opening day at Multiples and More a huge success (haven't visited yet? Click here!).
That's it for now, the coffee pot calls! Hope you have a great weekend!

Lucky 27!

So whatcha think of the new layout??? Krystyn at Krizzy Designs did it for me, she also did the layout for Multiples and More as well as Lani's personal blog. If you need a new blog design check her out!
Today is just an awesome day all around! Multiples and More officially launched today and we have gotten such a positive response so far, it's amazing! It's not even noon yet and we have almost 50 followers! I think 27 is my new lucky number, everything good seems to happen on the 27th. Scott and I were married on the 27th, the site launched on the 27th, Aaron was born at 3:27 (perfect actually!), today is my niece Kaitlyn's birthday, my nephew's Jeffery and Jeremy were born on the 27th of April, I'm sure more things happened I just can't think of them. I think 27 is going to enter my powerball rotation!
Jill took a few more steps yesterday when Scott was home. She is so proud of herself too when she does it, it's just amazing! Aaron finally pushed the push toy yesterday! He pushed it a little faster than his feet were willing to go though. It's a weird feeling to see them almost walking. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Happy because they are getting big and developing so well, or sad because they are getting big and not my little babies anymore.
Like I already mentioned today is my niece Kaitlyn's 7th birthday today! Happy birthday Kaitlyn, hope it's a great day!!!!

A big big BIG day!

Oh so many things are happening, and it's all just so exciting! Big family news, Jill took two steps today! Where's the picture or video you ask? Silly! You know you are never around a camera when it happens, and once you bring the camera out they magically don't know how to do it!
In business news....drum roll please....the big project from Lani and I launches tomorrow! Multiples and More Blog Network is a place for families of multiples and fans of multiples to connect. We are doing a giveaway everyday for the first week, check us out for more info (just click the button)

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday, I know I will!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

I know I say it every week, but where did the time go??? This week I am thankful for...
  • Friday being tomorrow and getting to share the big news. I'm not a very good secret keeper, and I am impressed that I have held out this long.
  • Awesome weather, even though the pollen is out of control. It hasn't been too hot down here, which is lovely. Yay for spring!
  • My kids and all that they do. Aaron had me laughing so hard yesterday and it made my afternoon. I love that they can change my whole day!
  • My Sara Snow book coming in yesterday! I have something new to read while my photos load on Facebook, Myspace and here!
  • Scott for being understanding during this crazy time (again can't wait until tomorrow!!!).
  • Health and the power of prayer. If you are so inclined, please visit MckMama and pray for her little boy Stellan.
  • I know I wasn't going to say it this week, but my coffee pot and the local Starbucks have had several visits from me this week, so thank you for being my caffeine boost at any given time!
  • Davy Jones. Even though we didn't get to see him, thank you for being at EPCOT because your fans gave me, Scott and Lani hours worth of conversation!
  • Signing Time. If you have kids, I totally recommend these! Jill smiles the second she hears "Hi, I'm Rachel!" Plus, it makes it easy for me to learn too!
  • Maria Shriver following me, yes me, on Twitter. I know it's probably some assistant who clicked me, but none the less, Maria Shriver is following me and I think that's awesome!
Hope you have a lot to be thankful for this week! Play along with Nicole at What a trip!

What pj pants? I didn't have any pj pants....

This morning I walked into the kids room to find both of them sans pj pants. Apparently a magical heat wave blew threw and they just didn't need them. Aaron threw his on the floor in front of his crib and was really proud of himself...see....Jill was a little bit more sneaky about it. She tried to push them between the slats on the crib so I wouldn't see them. She played innocent when I asked her why her pants were on the other side of the crib....see....Later on we met up with April, Hadden, Hendrix, Hunter, Melissa, Taylor and Evan at the park. The weather was beautiful and when we got there we were like the only people there, it was perfect! Then we turned into the animals at the zoo. I don't even want to get into it....
Anyway....here are some photos from the day....
Look for a big exciting announcement on Friday!!! Hope you had a great day!

Way back When-esday: Memorial Day

Date: Memorial Day 2008
Where: Kathy and Gary's Memorial Day Pool Party Extravaganza

I have no idea why this photo is so small...But this was the first time we really took the kids out somewhere that was not the doctor's office. Aaron and Jill were maybe 2 weeks old here. They were the hit of the pool party! I will say it was really nice to be able to sit and eat a HOT meal. Plus, we never had to sit and feed the babies, all our friends just scooped them up. I think I maybe held the kids for 15 minutes total at the party. It was an awesome break, especially in the beginning. You forget when you are in that daze how good food tastes when it's hot and hasn't been sitting for 30 minutes, possibly half eaten by the dog. Ahhh memories!

Tuesday Toot

So my "toot" of the day is that I did in fact accomplish a lot today, even with the wonderful scratchy eyes I have from the insane amount of pollen outside! I got a ton of laundry done (seems like I'm always doing that), a lot of work stuff done, including creating our business card for the one projects (so secret I know!), I got to spend a bunch of one on one time with each of my kids, and I worked on the blanket I'm making. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. So toot toot! Hehehehe :) Play along at Mommy Community

Nap? I don't need no stinking nap!

Good morning everyone! At least the sun is shining over here today, yesterday was rainy and super gloomy. Granted we need the rain, but I hate all the doom and gloom that goes with it. Yesterday was...well interesting I guess is the best way to describe it. Neither of the kids wanted to take a morning nap. Aaron finally caved, but Jill ended up waking him up. I still haven't figured out what's worse, Aaron not napping or being woken up from a nap. They also decided that lunch was optional. Awesome! I think they are in their picky stage now. Awesome again! We ran over to Target in between rain showers to get Jill some new shoes. I'm starting to think her feet are soaking in a bucket of water at night and just magically jumping sizes. That's the only explanation I have for it right now. The Target by my house was pretty well picked over in the shoe department so I just grabbed her a pair of white sandals. I may just have to suck it up and go to Babies R Us for more shoes. I'm not a Babies R Us fan, in case you couldn't tell, but for cute footwear I will suck it up. I need to go to the Stride Rite outlet that's by us and find the kids some good shoes for when the start walking. Back on topic now...so we got home and Aaron finally took a nice long nap. Not Jill though, she got a 10 minute power nap in the car so she was good. I do enjoy that time though, so I really can't complain. I love my one on one time with the kids. It's just nice to be able to give your undivided attention to just one of them and be able to really play with them. We got a good 30 minutes of peek a boo in. Jill's new thing now is to put her baby doll on top of the push toy and push the baby around the playzone. It's adorable! Here's a photo from over the weekend of her with the baby....
The day was much better after Aaron took his nap. It's always easier when one is well rested! The kids somewhat protested dinner too, I don't blame them though, that jarred food they had smelled like vomit. I wouldn't be excited about eating that either! But they did eat almost all of their fresh butternut squash, and Jill of course finished all of her kiwi.
In other news, my friend Dennis is now back from Iraq! WOO HOO! He's a Marine and has been over there for what seems like an eternity now, and he has been home for almost a week now. I do know that he is going to be deployed again, I think this summer which bites, but at least he is home now!
Hope you have a great day!

Someone to pray for

So I kind of feel like a butt for doing the Not me! Monday! this morning. I wasn't paying attention to MckMama's blog when I went to grab the button and didn't notice until after I did my post that her son Stellan is in the ER. Stellan has SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia=very high heart rate) and is being given shots that momentarily stop his heart in hopes that it will begin beating regularly again. Read about it here
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I most certainly did not just drop everything because I heard my coffee pot go off. Nope, I would always finish whatever I was doing before even considering a coffee break.

I did not spend my entire afternoon on Saturday making food for the kids and then not make dinner for us. Nope, I would never make my husband run out to get dinner, especially on a weekend.

Naturally I cleaned my desk that looks like a war zone and have not left it in that state for a later date. Nope, I always clean things right away and rarely leave them for another time.

I did not say the phrase "Those look like kids I could have babysitted when I was in high school" Nope I always have perfect grammar and never ever make up words that don't exist. (Just typing that made me wince a little)

I did not spend the majority of my Sunday night watching Rock of Love Bus and Tough Love while browsing a million different etsy boutiques for giveaway ideas while I had a sink full of dirty dishes. Nope not me!

I think that's about it. Play along with MckMama at My Charming Kids

Are those triptuplets?

We went to mass this morning as a part of Scott's R.C.I.A. process. The kids were actually pretty well behaved....well kind of. So we got to the church and as we sat down Aaron let out the biggest burp I've ever heard...ever! Of course we got several snickers out of that. Then my wonderful and charming daughter broke out the demon baby voice. I was waiting for someone to sprinkle holy water on her! But other than that, it was good.
This afternoon we went to EPCOT for the Flower and Garden Festival with Lani and the kids. Our original plan was to see Davy Jones (seriously) but the rain clouds came in and we were smart and left. We literally made it to the car and got the kids loaded as it began to pour. The comments today were "interesting" to say the least. For example, Lani has "triptuplets" uh huh seriously. Oh and this other lady said and I quote..."I thought I had problems with one!" Oh there was some restraint in not commenting back. Then, and this one is the best, by far...we stopped in China to feed the kids and this guy was sitting over by where Scott was and asked "Hey are those 5 babies?" so Scott said "Yup" well I think the guy meant "Hey are those quints?" and Scott thought that as well and figured yup, I'll just say sure, why not mess with the people. So the guy walked away and pointed us out to his wife and how we had five babies. Awesome. But the whole walk around the park was pretty good, I love the annual pass, seriously!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Walk for Wishes

We did the Walk for Wishes today in Celebration. This was the first year they had it there and you could tell. It was a nice day though, they brought out a Make a Wish family from the area, and honestly, I had to distract myself so I wouldn't cry. Natalie was dancing with her father at a wedding in which she was a bridesmaid. During the dance she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Her father said the statistics on surviving something like that are not very good, but after 3 years of surgeries, treatment and rehab you would never know what happened to this girl. While she was going through rehab a volunteer from Make a Wish contacted the family and asked what Natalie's wish would be. She wanted to go to Hawaii. Because of the donations to Make a Wish Natalie and her family were able to take that trip. That is one of the many reasons I truly love this charity, they give families hope and something positive to look forward to. Below is a video of Natalie singing "A Dream is a Wish"
Now onto something a little more light-hearted. I have been getting called out on my Chicago accent lately. Apparently I sound like every character in the SNL skit called Bill Swerkski's Super Fans. If you have never seen this skit, shame! But here it is for all of you who haven't...

Yup, apparently that's EXACTLY what I sound like...awesome!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Our day at the park

Aaron, Cameron and Jill
Hadden (I'm 90% sure), Aaron, Jill and Hunter
Aaron and Jill
Hendrix (maybe?) and Aaron
Jill showing off her Pampers
The group
Another group shot

We went to the park today with the Lyons and Adams families. We also got to meet Olga and her cuties! The park was a good 45 minutes away from the house, but the kids slept the entire time which is always wonderful! We had a really good time out there, Jill even gave out her first kiss! I think April had Hadden in her lap and Jill crawled over, climbed up, and planted one right on his cheek! It was the cutest thing I've ever seen! That made up for all her bully like behavior I suppose. I kept losing track of Aaron though because he was dressed similar to April's boys and just seemed to blend in. After the park we went over to visit Scott at work, since he's only 15 minutes away from the park we were at. The kids were already asleep so we didn't stay long.
Tomorrow is the Walk for Wishes in Celebration to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation of Central Florida. I am so excited about this walk! Like I said in my first post on it, this is my favorite charity. If you would like to donate (I would totally apprecaite it!) you can do so here.

Hope everyone is having a happy Friday!!!!

Thanksgiving Thursday

>>

Another week has literally flown by. So this week I am thankful for...

  • Yup, you guessed it, the coffee pot. I figure this week will be the last I will be thankful for it, while it is awesome, the point has been made I think.
  • My husband's desk building skills. He had my new desk out of the box and constructed within 2 hours, and that included a break to feed the kids dinner! It's not often that I compliment his speedy construction skills :)
  • My annual pass to Disney. I love being able to just call Lani and say "Hey I gotta get out of the house want to meet at EPCOT?" and just go for maybe 2 hours. It's awesome.
  • All the positive response Lani and I are getting for the top secret project. As a side note if you have an etsy shop and would be willing to donate items to a giveaway please let us know!
  • The awesomeness that is Target. They always manage to have shelves stocked and team members close by in case said item is not on the shelf. The same cannot be said for Walmart, at least the one by my house anyway.
  • My daughter eating her bottle by herself. It gives me a few minutes of alone time with Aaron, which hardly ever happens since he tends to nap longer than Jill. I do wish Aaron would eat his bottle by himself, but I like the time we get to spend together.
  • Bravo TV creating yet another trashy show for me to watch. Apparently they are starting a Real Housewives of New Jersey, for real! I wonder what fruit they will be holding in the opening credits?
  • April organizing all the play dates for our kindergarten class with GOMOTT. She spreads them out so it's fair to everyone, plus she totally scopes the places out so they don't suck! Tomorrow's is at a park that's on Triplet Lake Lane, seriously, how funny?

Tweet tweet

Today was a fairly productive day. I actually got a lot of stuff done (4 loads of laundry, swept/swiffered all the floors, dishes, dinner, playtime, work stuff, etc) but don't really feel like I did anything. It's a weird feeling, I know.
The kids were pretty funny today too. When I was talking to my dad this morning I put him on speaker, because he wanted to say hi to the kids, Aaron tried to show him the toy he was playing with and Jill...well...Jill hung up on him. Seriously. She was busy playing and obviously did not have time to talk, so she hit the off button. She almost took a step today too. I'm so not ready for that...
Aaron is getting better at standing with only one hand on things to keep him balanced. I have a feeling one day I will turn around and he will be full on walking, he's sneaky like that.
We tried the diced peaches again today, this time I put them on a spoon and just gave it to them that way. In the jar they are packed with juice, and it just makes them too slimy to pick up. The kids loved them though, and actually ate half the jar with lunch.
In non kid related news, Lani has officially gotten me hooked on Twitter. I was trying to hold off, I saw Nicole and Cheryl start up, but no I wasn't going to do it, I didn't need another social networking site. Sigh...yeah that didn't last. I kinda like it, it's super simple and awesome that I can "stalk" I mean follow people like Dr. Drew, Ryan Seacrest, and Danny Gokey from American Idol (for real he is the next big thing). I did feel a little lame though that I signed up AFTER my father in law. He is apparently way more hip than I am.
That's it over here, hope all is well with you and that you had a great day!

Way back When-esday: Baby Shower number 2

Date: March 2008

This is a photo from my second baby shower that Mimi threw for me. I was in full whale mode by this point and looked like maybe I was smuggling a beach ball under my dress. It was awesome to be able to have a baby shower down here as well as the one I had in Chicago. It is also amazing to see the difference in this photo from my last baby shower, there were only a few weeks in between them. Thank you again Mimi for throwing me a great baby shower!

"Your twins have a good size to them!"

First, let me wish everyone a very happy St. Patrick's day! Ok now on to today. Today was definitely one of those days. Jill's diaper was drooping a little (my fault) and she pulled it down some more and had a giant poop. It was all over her and all I could think was well tonight is bath night, a wipe can handle this right now. So I let her eat lunch just in a diaper, well she ripped her bib off and decided today, of all days, was the day she was going to feed herself...here's Exhibit A
Needless to say she had a bath right after lunch. Aaron did pretty good today at lunch, they both got diced peaches, I think I'm just going to get fresh ones so they aren't as slimy from the juice. Here's Aaron at lunch... After their afternoon naps we met up with Lani and the kids at EPCOT. The place was pretty busy, especially since the UK pavilion was serving green beer. And comments from people who have clearly had one too many green beers are interesting. I had a woman tell me that my kids had good size to them, you know because I have a big boy and little girl. I couldn't even think of anything to say back, I just stared at Lani dumbfounded. Then, it gets better! Aaron had on a Notre Dame bib and the woman goes "Go Purdue!" UHHHHH Seriously?! So I politely went "No, Go Irish!" Anyway...so here's my other thing that I have to complain about, the drive thru at Starbucks. Now, isn't there some form of etiquette when using the drive thru? Clearly it's not a speedy process, but if you pull up in your 15 passenger van and proceed to order for everyone in the van that's just ridiculous. I revoke your drive thru privileges! And, you can't send a drink back at the drive thru! Obviously your drink was too complex, or you're just OCD so again, drive thru privileges revoked! Ahhh much better :)
That's about it, at least I think that's about it, my brain is a little bit mushy right now (think super ripe banana). Hope you had a great day!

Not me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not drive an hour to have lunch with my husband and father in law because cheese from my pizza on Friday dripped onto the rack in the oven and made it smell like burning whatever and I just didn't feel like making anything else or cleaning it off. Nope that's not why I drove up there, I mean who does that?

I did not take the mound of junk of my old desk and dump half of it on my new desk because I didn't feel like sorting through it. No, I'm super organized and would never EVER have that problem.

I did not spend my Sunday night watching trashy reality TV (Rock of Love Bus and Tool Academy) instead of working on my new project. Nope, not me!

I most certainly did not roll my eyes after a half dozen people pointed at me and the kids in Target. I would never do that, I always give myself a pep talk and never ever mumble things under my breath after they are out of ear rang. Nope, not me.

Well that's everything I have not being doing, play along with MckMama and all of us!

Sunday Recap

Ah happy Monday morning everyone! It is super foggy over here. Do you remember when you were little and you would watch cartoons and if it was foggy in the cartoon the character would use a sword and cut through the fog? Yeah I totally wish I could do that, it's pretty nasty out. Anyway, yesterday was pretty cool. Scott has completed another step in RCIA (Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults in case you were wondering) and I've never been prouder! We're only a few weeks away from Easter when he makes all his sacraments which is really really exciting! Yesterday afternoon we ran over to Walmart and got me a smaller desk so that way the kids have a bigger play area. We also got the kids two of those medium size plastic balls. I wish I had my camera because Scott brought Jill around the corner and she had her princess ball in her hand and was just beaming! It was almost like she was thinking "Oh my goodness look at this! It has princesses!" I'm glad $3 toys make their day, I wonder how long that will last? Aaron pouted pretty much the whole time we were there, he HATES Walmart, no clue why, just does not like it. Maybe he's just a typical guy and doesn't like to shop? Here's a photo of them playing "nice" yesterday...
Then last night after the kids went down and we (and when I say we I mean Scott) were putting the old desk in the garage we (and this time I mean we) saw the shuttle launch. Well, Scott saw it, and I saw the trail it left, I still haven't seen one. We always forget when they're going up, and coming back for that matter. I remember my first time when a shuttle returned, I about jumped out of my skin! I was sitting on the couch, watching it mind you, and I heard this 'BANG!" I thought there was a drive by or something. I called Scott and was like "Oh my God I think somebody shot someone out here!" and he was like "No, Amanda that was the shuttle landing, it's called the sonic boom, helllllllooooooooooo". It was pretty funny, and he reminds me of it everytime there is one. Here are a couple of photos Scott took last night of the trail...So then, Scott and I are in bed, getting ready to fall asleep and talking about our day, and we were talking about the songs we can't stand on the kids favorite nursery rhyme DVD and he started talking about the Apples and Bananas song. I was like what about it? And he was like (oh my gosh this is hard to type, I'm still laughing) "I hate when they switch to those foreign languages, I mean what is that?" Oh my gosh it's still as funny as it was last night, give me a minute...woooooo....So I was like "Um no, it's teaching them their vowels. A-A-A Apples and Bananas E-E-E Epples and Benenes etc." and you could literally see the light bulb click on. Oh I love my husband, but that was HILARIOUS! Can you tell we're still sleep deprived from daylight savings?
Ok, let me wipe that tear from laughing so I can continue....so as recommended by Lani, I bought the kids Signing time and they like it, a lot. Scott loves it too, he took sign language as his foreign language in college, and actually lined danced with a deaf couple, so he was really good at it. I think he's more excited about it than the kids. He's also convinced that Jill was signing dog yesterday. Maybe, who knows. The only negative I have with it is that the theme song is permanently embedded in my head, but that's not entirely bad I guess.
No big plans today, I always say that don't I but then end up doing something that would qualify as a big plan, oh well. Hope you have a great day!
